Hey all!
Excited to start in on the obsession here and I've spent the past few weeks researching and reading here and other places. I think I've read 1000 pages of forum posts here so far and am reading some homebrewing books; Homebrewing for dummies, Joy of Homebrew, and Extreme brewing. I still feel like I have an elementary grasp!

Bf and I drink maybe 3 bottles of beer a week, total, so Mr. Beer 2.5g and the occasional 1 gallon experimental brews should be enough for the pipeline once I get it going. The MB was originally for a gift for the boyfriend, but he doesn't seem to care much. *shrug* That means I get to pick what brews!

We both love porters, stouts and rauchbiers. He's more into IPAs and bocks while I like my ESBs and lambics.

The WCPA that comes with MB is in primary right now (nooooot too excited about it) and I have a few others lined up, but I like the looks of brewing the 1 Gallon batches. It would allow me to go all grain without having to buy a bunch of equipment since I have a big soup pot and some 1 gallon bottles hanging around.

There's supposedly a LHBS near La Crosse, but I haven't been there yet.

Any sage advice for a budding hobbyist?

Thanks guys! I have to say, I'm amazed at how much I've learned since I've started reading the past few months, I can't imagine how much I'll have progressed in a couple more months!

Looking forward to bottling my first MB brew on Saturday or Sunday, then getting another one off the ground as quick as I can.

Does anyone have a favorite 1 gallon brew to suggest? I need to check out my LHBS to see what they stock, but I'm hoping they have everything I need to make the Bourbon Vanilla Stout from here. It sounds fantastic!
