I bought a kit from Homebrew Headquarters in Richardson, and will start brewing Wednesday with Cooper's IPA. Been reading and reading and reading here...finally signed up.

Hope to learn from you guys and attend some events if that kinda thing goes on around here.:tank:

You came to the right place for all things brewing, wine, foodie stuff, etc. The Cooper's IPA is more like the british style. There are events all over the place these days. Some post about them, but maybe best to search for them?:tank:

Hi Matty I'm in Lewisville and also new. I ordered my kit online and am still waiting on delivery. How did you like Homebrew HQ? If I have time I may stop in there this afternoon, I still need ingredients.

Hey, David. I had a great experience. I had done some preliminary reading online about home brewing. Kelly helped me at the shop. He probably spent about 20-30 mins just talking/answering questions about different equipment, methods, etc with me. I am sure that I will check out other shops, but they won me as a loyal customer with the first visit.

You were right the guys at Homebrew HQ were extremely helpful. Not sure exactly who I talked to but he spent about 30 minutes making sure I had everything I needed for my first batch and nothing I didn't really need yet.
I first went to The Winemakers Toy Store / Dallas Homebrew in Carrollton. They are primarily a wine making store and weren't really able to help a first time brewer and tried to sell me an intermediate kit and couldn't answer any questions.
How did your first batch go? I'm going to be brewing a bock either Saturday or Sunday.

Welcome to the hobby, and the group, from CO :mug:

I am a big supporter of my LHBS, it's good to have guidance and events there, so I'll pay a little more to support that.

Thanks guys. My first brew day went well. Three days into my IPA fermentation, chugging right along now. Pretty excited, can't wait to do another batch.
