I have it easy, with all the acclaimed breweries in my, pretty much, immediate area. Also easy to get inspired and poor.
Bought myself a Midwest starter kit with a glass carboy after being gifted the renowned "How To Brew" book for Christmas. Picked up Midwest's Citral Pale Ale and it's been in primary for 10 days now. Went ahead and funked with the additions: 5 tbsp of oat flour(was only trying to pick up the viscosity and found out later that oat flakes are the way to go[patted myself on the back for that one]) with the DME before the boil. Hop additions followed the recipe. Last minute immersion wort chiller was $60 well spent. SG = 1.049. Fermentation went quick with the Wyeast activator. Before transferring to secondary, I dry hopped with an ounce of Citra whole cones. FG = 1.010. That was 3 days ago.
Tonight I'm racking to secondary. I'll follow the recipe the rest of the way. But I do have another ounce of Citra cones. Should I add them? When?
I'm excited to start brewing, learn the process and best practices, and getting input from you all. Feel free to comment, criticize, and encourage.
