I have been putting this recipe together this week. My intention is to create a nice APA for springtime! Let me know what y'all think - planning on brewing it later this evening.

MaxPatch's APA

Recipe Type: Partial Mash
Yeast: White Labs California Ale
Yeast Starter: none
Additional Yeast or Yeast Starter: none
Batch Size (Gallons): 5
Original Gravity: 1.056
Final Gravity: 1.014
IBU:
Boiling Time (Minutes): 60
Color: Light yellow/copper
Primary Fermentation: 10 days at 60-65 degrees
Secondary Fermentation: 12 days at 65-68 degrees
Additional Fermentation: bottle condition for 14 days

6.6 lbs Breiss DME Golden Light
8 oz crystal 20L
8 oz CaraPils

1 0z Sorachi Ace @ 60 min.
.5 oz Sorachi Ace @ 30 min
.5 oz Amarillo @ 30 min
.5 Sorachi Ace @ 15 min
.5 oz Amarillo @ Flameout
1 oz Sorachi Ace (Dry-hop- secondary)
1 oz Amarillo (Dry hop - secondary)

Bring 2gal water to 150ºF, steep grains (in grain bag) for 45min.
Remove grains and bring water to boil.
Dissolve all malt extract, and return water to rolling boil.
Add hops according to schedule above for total 60min boil time.
Pour into fermenter with 3gal cold water (top off to 5gal if necessary) and pitch yeast at approx. 75ºF.
Ferment 10 days in primary, then rack and ferment 12 days in secondary.
Prime with 3/4 cup priming sugar and bottle.
Age 2 weeks in bottles.

looks nice man. I know sorachi ace is getting hard to find. Maybe you can use something a little easier to find for the bittering addition and bump up that 15 min addition. I'd also recommend bumping up the flame out addition. Just my 2 cents though.

I'd like to see the 30 minute hops eliminated, as you get bittering from them but no hops flavor or aroma (and not their full bittering potential). Ideally, an APA would have hops additions more like this:

1 0z Sorachi Ace @ 60 min.
.5 oz Sorachi Ace @ 15 min
.5 oz Amarillo @ 10 min
.5 Sorachi Ace @ 5 min
.5 oz Amarillo @ Flameout
1 oz Sorachi Ace (Dry-hop- secondary)
1 oz Amarillo (Dry hop - secondary)
