Never bottled before as i read up before jumping into this hobby and bottling sounded like a PIA so i started kegging.

Want to give away some beers for Xmas. How many 22oz bombers do i need for 5 gallons? Did a quick search but didn't see a answer. Thanks in advance.

EDIT Ok i saw a post that said roughly 50 12oz bottles which would be roughly 28 22oz bombers?

Well...

Assuming 5 gal batch and not spilling a drop:

5 gallons x 128 oz/gal = 640 oz.

640 oz. / 22 oz. = 29.1

So I'd say 30 aught to be enough for a 5 gallon (net volume) batch.

5gal=640 fluid oz.
640 fl.oz. / 22 oz = 29 bottles (approximate)
accounting for some loss to the trub-monster, and 28 bottles aught to do it.

I'll bet if your math teacher had used story problems related to beer you'd be better now.

True that. My dad was pretty laid back and would let me have a few sips of his beer at 16 or so and i liked it. So had the math teacher made me figure how many bombers i could fill out of a keg i might have aced math. :cross:
