I'm a new brewer and just learning the craft with my first batch currently in the fermenter. My typical beer preference has leaned towards lagers with Yuengling being what I always picked up in the store. Without having the equipment to correctly make a lager, are there any recipes you could suggest that would be close?

I'm brewing a hefeweizen from a kit at the moment which I also like but am already thinking about the next batch! And it doesn't need to be a kit.

Suggestions would be appreciated

If you have the ability to control temperatures into the mid to low 60's, California Commons are ales fermented with a California Lager strain like Anchor Steam and are pretty tasty beers!

I have an old coal room in my basement that stays a consistent 65 degrees in the winter so that's an option. Is there a recipe for that or should I choose an ale recipe and just use the lager yeast strain?

I don't have mine handy but you can google anchor steam clone and many are out there. You can also search the recipe wiki on this site:)
