Started a RJ Spagnols Grand Cru International Collection Malbec red wine kit. As per the instruction I transfered from primary to a glass carboy after 6 days, my gravity reading was then 1.012. The instruction stated after 6 to 8 days and a gravity of 1.020 or lower. After that I had to wait at day 20 and a gravity ready oor 0.998 or lower for stabilizing and clearing. Around day 17 I took a gravity reading and was at 1.004. Now at day 20, the gravity should be 0.998 or lower, but i'm still at 1.004. Can someone give me some advice to what I could do? I've made several wine kits without any problems, this is the first time it happens to me, just not really sur what to do...
Thanks

Did you adjust for temp and use the yeast that the kit recommended? That is a pretty nominal number to be off....I would wait another 2 weeks and call it good personally......I may have attenuated a bit less if you used another yeast.

I did use the yeast from the kit, if I leave it for 2 weeks more, would the head space become a problem? Also a friend was suggesting that I stir the it to get the fermentation going again. Could that help?

Did you top off the carboy after degassing in the final stages? If not, make sure to top it off not only to keep as little headspace in the carboy but it will also help with your hydro readings. One of my first batches of wine, I forgot to top off and came out with some "above-average" readings. Nothing to worry about though as long as it tastes good!
