Recently I picked up a bunch of grain for a local brewery. I ended up picking up 20# of crystal 20 not sure why so much but I guess I was thinking I could toast so and make crystal 40, 60, 80 out of it.

Anyone done this before and how were your results.

Hi Sample. Randy Mosher gives directions in his book "Radical Brewing" on how to make crystal malts. I've never made it myself, but I'm not sure that just toasting crystal 20 gives you crystal 40, but like I said, I've never done it.

Also, take a look through Laughing Gnome Invisible's threads - he started one a while ago about making crystal malt and toasting grains.
