I'm looking to enter 2 beers into a competition, but they could go many different ways.

Cocoa Brown: basically a sweet brown steeped in secondary with cocoa nibs. Prominent chocolate nose. Not bitter tasting at all. I was thinking "brown porter" but could it also be a "specialty beer"?

Smoked chipotle jalapeño porter. Sweet brown porter as base, not super spicy. Smoked Malts, steeped dried chipotles and fresh jalepeno in secondary. Does this really have 4 potential categories? Other smoked beer, specialty beer, brown porter, or spice herb vegetable beer?

Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated!

21A for the cocoa brown, but 23 for the smoked chipotle porter since its a combo - Combinations of other style categories (e.g., India Brown Ale, fruit-and-spice beers, smoked spiced beers)

Good call. I was thinking that the pepper's were smoked, so it was still just a pepper beer and smoking was a way of preparing it for use. Picking the right category for some of these beers can get tricky.
