The lushness of the trees combined with the bleached iron-rich soil suggests we're in the tropics.

It's a big river.

I'm going to take a punt and say that the building centre-left looks like it's meant to look like the sunset and so we are looking west, which kinda suggests we're on the west coast of a landmass.

Taking a complete punt, the Congo is the biggest river that flows west I can think of, so Kinshasa?

So assuming we're sub-Saharan, the western hemisphere implies somewhere between Ghana and the Gambia.
