It's not Fes ( that's what I think anyway, since Fes is hilly) and Meknes is on the west side of the Atlas as I recall. Merzouga didn't seem that big when I was there years ago but that's what I'll guess.

Long time ago I was on a school holiday on this island. Someone had heard a rumour saying that Pink Floyd had a place at this village and of course we had to go there to see. 20 teenagers on rented motorbikes. Pure luck nothing serious happened. No Pink Floyd either of course. Have no idea why someone thought they should have a place there, and especially be there at the same time we were there....
