Bingo! This town was literally floating on oil due to pipeline leaks over decades. It was not a very nice place back then -- run down with lots of undesirable people. However, when the oil under the town was discovered, the oil company responsible bought basically the entire town, tore it down, cleaned up the oil and rebuilt the town. It's a great place to visit now with a great beach and cute little town. Dr. Duke, you're up!

That photo was taken 15 min. before that airplane crashed on the 405, just at the right side of the picture. I took the picture, went down stairs with the building owner and engineers, stood in the parking lot and saw a plume of black smoke. Left the building and made it to the freeway (still didn't know about the crash) and had the police close the on ramp just in back of me, got on the freeway and saw all the emergency equipment, pulled out my camera and took a picture only to have my wife call me (and turn my camera off) just as I got to the airplane to ask me if I saw, or knew about the crash (she knew I was working close to the airport).

What a wild day, missed it by about 30 min.
