Google tells me that the first Veterans Day celebration was in Birmingham, Alabama, so let's go with that (although the foliage doesn't look exactly right for Alabama).

Not Alabama... And this spot is really only significant to a relatively small population. "First Veterans' Day" is definitely recognized by far more people than this event...

The event that occurred at this location was actually 11/10, but 11/11 is recognized as the significant date. (I can't find a better way to word that without giving too much away at this point.)

He was kept on life support until his family could arrive from Sweden and the support was terminated on November 11.
