Been thinking about this... particularly the APA no hop flavor issue. What if:

Assuming you put the beer in the oven @ 180 for 30mins per the BYO recommendation, why not add in a large amount of hops during the last 15 to 20 mins in the oven. Obviously the utilization would be low due to the lower temperature (compared to boil) so you would have to compensate accordingly w/ more hops but I bet you'd get some flavor back.

Running the NA beer through a hopback on the way to the bottling bucket would add something as well but the results would likely be all aroma, much like your dry hopping experience.

EDIT: I just saw Chris B's post about adding some hop tea after the ethanol boil off and I think that's a great idea.

Just my 2 cents.

And 2 more cents: I don't get why people are all concerned as to whether or not he should brew an NA beer. I'm all for debate and argument for the purpose of gaining a diversity of understanding and enlightenment but sometimes I think people make ridiculous and petty posts just to see their words on the screen or raise an argument that serves no purpose. Quit killing the joy of being on the forum. The guy wants to brew an NA for whatever and/or no reason at all, that's he prerogative. If you want to debate the legitimacy and value of NA beers take it somewhere else on the board. Lets get creative and help him come up with something new and exciting instead of bickering as to the value of brewing NA beer in general. I'm sure I'll get flamed for these comments, just further proving my point.

Easy there big guy. ;)

I agree we sometimes poke jabs are peoples ideas. I've had my fair share. But hell...this is like a virtual pub. There's gonna be some lively discourse. Frankly, I don’t see where there was a lot of abuse in this thread…unless it’s been “cleaned out”.

And as for his idea of brewing an NA… been there…done that

ANyone know how to make NA bourbon? I'd love to have a Makers Mark that I could drink all night and not wake up on the couch the next morning.
