Hi all
Don't laugh at me as I am making this in a Mr Beer container as it's a good way for me to experiment with small batches before going for the 5 gallon way I've done for more than two decades :-D

Anyway, I started with a light ale and instead of using water to bring up the volume, I used unfiltered, unpreserved, pasteurized apple juice.

Starting gravity was 1.050 and now, two weeks later, it's sitting at 1.018. Not sure how much lower it should be. I did taste a tiny bit and it tastes like Redds!

Thanks in advance - I laughed at my husband's Mr Beer kit until I realized it's just a small version of brewing. They don't use hydrometers and all of that but that doesn't mean I can't!

Nice. I've done a bit of dabbling with ale/cider hybrids in the past, my favorite recipe being Brandon O's Graff. Check it out some time.

Kind of hard to say what your Final Gravity "should" be without knowing more about your recipe. Mine always ended in the 1.007-1.010 range, but I was also probably using a higher proportion of juice-to-ale than you. Let it ride a few more days and check again to see if anything changed.

And Mr. Beer fermenters are great for small batch experiments. ;)
