Our neighbor stopped by our farm the other day and asked to borrow a grain fan tube (a big piece of pipe with small holes that you screw into a pile of grain and through which you blow air). Apparently he needed to air out some if his malt barley. They had extra barley this year and had to store some in an old wood silo. Well a skunk decided to move in under the silo and well do what skunks do. I guess the barley stunk so bad that the malt plant rejected the load. Sorry to report guys, but after a few days of airing out I have no doubt the malt plant will be making some fabulous pre-skunked malt. So if you find a skunky beer that has no reason to be skunked...just think of my neighbor.
