People have complained some about Modern Times' branding. I will take them a million times over Saint Archer, and I don't even have any idea if the beer is good. This is hilarious and generic pandering to everyone in California stereotyped as drinking beer.

I can't wait to hike/fly fish/camp some delicious IPA™!

(San Diego,CA) – San Diego’s Saint Archer Brewing Company was founded on a unique strain of creative talent: World-class brewers. Artists and musicians. Surfers, skateboarders, and snowboarders… All coming together with passion and commitment to express our collective true love –– handcrafted beer.

And, as of today, Saint Archer is happy to announce that our four flagship brews will now be offered in cans as well as bottles:

IPA

Blonde Ale

Pale Ale

White Ale

Canned beer is a perfect fit for the outdoor lifestyle personified by Saint Archer’s Ambassadors. To celebrate the launch and illustrate this logical transition for the brand, the Saint Archer team made this short film documenting a skate/surf road trip up the California coast:

The growth of canned beer offerings within the craft brew set has already been featured by mainstream outlets such as NPR, Forbes, Food and Wine, Epicurious and others. Many of the nation’s top craft outfits already offer their product in cans—some of them exclusively in cans—so Saint Archer is thankful to the vanguard breweries, especially Oskar Blues, that sparked the Can Revolution: “Hats off to those guys for having the guts to do this way back in 2002. They knew they had something solid and we think that even the most die hard beer fanatics have come around by now,” says Yiga Miyashiro, Director of Brewing Operations.

“Saint Archer grew out of our common love of surfing, skateboarding, snowboarding—and great beer,” adds Josh Landan, President and Founder. “Most of us camp, fly-fish or hike, too. California epitomizes the notion of an ‘outdoor-lifestyle state’. Enjoying a cold one while sitting on a log with your friends after an evening surf session is one of life’s great pleasures. With the new cans, we don’t have to worry about accidentally leaving shards of glass around or packing heavy empties up the trail. We hope that our customers will appreciate this new offering as much as we do.”

And, oh yeah—cans also get cold faster and take up less room in your fridge. Win/Win

A blonde and a white? Is their IPA not for everyone too? These guys are turned up a little too high for most people I think.

When you get to the beach, crack a can or two, pour them in a cambelbak and strap it to your back for extreme to the maxxx.

Thats a little too extreme for me. I think I'll stick to beers that are cold brewed, tripple filtered, tripple hopped, undistilled for a smooth taste, that use only the finest high country barley.

what about "our well water"

-5 brah points for not using the word 'epic' in their write up.

Serious question: Yiga is a former PP brewer, right? I thought he brewed some IPA for the birth of his son (IIRC it was pretty tasty). Does St. Archer make IPAs at that level?

I've never had anything from Modern Times. How is their beer?

categorically underwhelming.

dont bother buying saint archer either.

That's a bummer. I respect the San Diego wealth of offerings, but none of the new crop of breweries (save Societe, and we're talking IPAs only, mostly before their brew-system change) have struck me as amazing. I guess I'll lump these two guys in with Rip Current as a pass.

I was there a month ago and found all their beers to great for everyday drinking beer and still very flavorful.

It would be great to have a concept like theirs in MA where we have overpriced artisan bombers and 750s spilling off the shelf. Good on them for starting a brewery the right way.

blazing world, fortunate islands, and black house variants are all great. some of the one offs are pretty good. overall they are a good brewery.

"danksauce walesbro" is heinous and no one hates it more than i do but they make some very good beer
