There is no such thing as post-season baseball in Michigan, we've all transitioned to hockey and the Red Wings, thankyouverymuch!

So now the STL Cards have their own version of Bill Buckner in Matt Holliday. I'm not a fan of the Cards but I hate the Dodgers so that stupidass shot to the balls pissed me off.

For those that bash hockey they just don't give the sport a chance. Its fast paced and non stop. I always argue with people about it. it depends on where you grew up and live. I always compare it to basketball. In Basketball you breath on someone from the other team and you are at the foul shot line. Hockey is all hits and keep playing. Its all comes down to personal preference.

back to baseball....sports are sports. I enjoy watching almost all. Baseball post season is fun to watch, but most of the time I find baseball boring to watch unless I am physically at the game.

This post season should be interesting though.

At least I got two of the series right.

Heck of a game last night. They don’t call them the Fightins for nothing.

What happened to the Red Sox?

Moving on

Phillies in 6

Angles in 6 (as determined by my heart, not my head)

Yes, at points it was too good of a game. That 8th inning just about killed me. But, to watch them come back and take the lead in the 9th was just amazing.

The Dodgers look tough and I have painful memories of them sweeping the Phils earlier this Summer.

and the Yankees just piss me off.

Yankees, Yankees, Yankees Gotta Love Them Yanks!!!

If this was a real rule, I would have to move out of the country. :ban:

Even if you don't like MLB you have to admit that the last two Phillies game have been amazing baseball games. I didn't think it was possible but last night's game was both a pitching duel and an offensive shootout. And the suspense lasted until the final pitch.

Otoh, I am getting too old for this sh%^.

I’ve always enjoyed baseball but these last two years have been fantastic. Not only because my Phillies have a terrific team, but perhaps more importantly, I’ve had the opportunity to share this experience with my oldest son. Our time together seems more precious now that he is months away from moving out. We’ve spent a lot of time together these last two years anguishing over and celebrating the Phillies.

Baseball is special in that it provides the opportunity for a lot of small talk. In between innings, as a pitcher warms up, during an at bat … it’s an unforced, easy kind of talk during which we really get to know each other.

Last night it was him and I again … watching the Phillies … alternating between anguish, celebration and small talk. Great stuff.

This is perhaps the best part about sports in general. It's just a great way to spend time with friends and family...Mets, Yankees, Red Sox fans excluded :D

P.S. Why did they pull Pedro last night?

P.S. Why did they pull Pedro last night?

I was wondering the same thing. Sort of. It is so easy to second guess the manager but still he pulled a pitcher who was doing well for an unwarmed starter.

We barely survived that move the night before and I would have thought he would have not done it twice.

EDIT: OTOH they only scored 4 runs in the whole game. If our offense can't overcome that sort of knee high obstacle then we are bound to lose.

I'm happy we're coming home 1-1 but it would have been sweet to come home 2-0.

And Mike, I fully agree with you on the bonding opportunity. For me it is with my Father and also with lifelong friends. It serves as an easy reason to get together and take a break in the midst of very full family lives that conspire to keep us out of touch.

Ok all my friends and family, even my pets, are asleep so I only have here to say this:

YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! RU KIDDING ME?!?!?! THAT WAS AH-MAY-ZING! GO PHILS

They are playing some kind of baseball this year. Unbelievable.

We woke the house up with our hooting and hollering last night after J-Roll's double.

The Phillies pitching might not be up to the World Series this year, especially a strong hitting American League team. Their bats may carry them, because they are hot, but they are going to give up a lot of runs.

I think I want the Angels just so I don't have to look at those smug arrogant annoying Yankees. But I fully expect that we'll be facing the Yankees.

It will be a tough battle but I think we match extremely well. Our offense is just amazing and they really step it up a notch in the clutch. Our manager is flawless in his strategy so no mistakes will be made there. Our defense is darn strong. And our pitching is a lot stronger coming into this series than they get credit for. Lee, Hamels, Martinez, Lee and Blanton are good enough to win with a minimum of support from our bats. (I'll bet this is the order Charlie plays them too.) And our bullpen is doing fairly well in this post season. Just ask LA if they feel like they got over on our relief pitching.

I predict a Phillies victory in 6 or 7. When we leave Philly, the series will be 3-2 to the phils. I'm also putting up a betting over/under on total runs scored for the series by both teams to be 60.

It will be a shootout and exciting to watch even for non baseball fans because of all of the hitting.

OTOH If the Angels somehow pull this series out of their butts the Phils will take them in 5 at the most.

I'd have to agree with that. I gotta say, I've been impressed with the pen in the postseason considering how they floundered through the last few months of the season. I think you'll be seeing the Yankees though. They've been so solid since Arod came back in May.

I have to tell you, as a Mets fan, it'll be a tough series to watch if it is Phils/Yanks. I've just accepted the fact that this was meant to be the lowest of low years for this team. I just hope the Mets brass see this and act accordingly.

I can't say that I'll root for either the Yankees or the Phillies. I do hope to see good baseball though, and I think we're guaranteed that with that match up.

Enjoy the series, dontman. You've got a great team to root for.

I'm torn on whether or not I want to see the Yankees play against the phillies or the Angels.

On one hand, I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see the Phillies beat the Yankees in the series.

On the other hand, I don't want the Yankees to even have an opportunity to win the world series.

If the Yankees face the Phillies, I think that it will be a close series, but I gotta admit that the Yanks would probably win.
