So apparently Midwest is running a 7.95 flat rate shipping for all orders. Living in Alaska, I figured it would be a good idea to take advantage of this opportunity and order 12 extract kits from them! These include: pumpkin spices ale, apple ale, old castle brown ale, maverick amber ale, rocky pale ale, winter ale, flat tire, honey nut brown ale, honey amber ale, big river brown ale, Aussie light ale, and Sierra pale ale! Anyone have experience with these kits? I'm pumped!

Can't believe they include Alaska and Hawaii.

Or exempt a total weight, that has got to be over 100 lbs!

Were you able to put it in your cart like that?

Edit: Sure enough, 12 kits to Alaska was $7.95!

So far it's worked but its not at my door yet so who knows how long flat rate will take. But I ain't complaining, the fed ex quite to get that order to Alaska was well over $400 ha! I wouldn't be surprised if they don't see the order this morning and shut it down.

They are shipping it tomorrow. Should be here next week, which is good timing up to Alaska! Man what a good deal this is! Definitely taking advantage of this one.

But 50 lb sacks don't count? 12 extract kits have to be more than a 51 lb box of grain.

I'm sure they do, but consider the profit margin on 12 kits versus one 50 lbs sack.

Hey it was an average of $40 per kit shipped.. And that's with liquid yeast. Getting kits to Alaska DOES NOT get any cheaper then that.

The profit margins on my order are non existent. This order will cost them close to $200 to ship the cheapest way possible, yet they only charged me 7.95.

I'm a small business and UPS offers me discounts but large shippers get really big discounts. Not that Midwest gets the same discount as Amazon but I bet FedEx gives them the best prices.

I kno they get discounts, but if you have ver shipped anything to AK that weights 100lbs, you would understand what I am saying.

Interesting they offer this after NB does away with flat rate...not that it matters to me I live about 5 miles away from both, still though....interesting.....

Must be nice! I would have $0 in my bank account...

1.) AHS still has flat rate shipping...

2.) Amazing that Midwest offers flat rate shipping to AK or HI.

3.) I doubt you're going to brew 12 kits in a short amount of time. I'd put all of your hops in the freezer until it's time to brew.

Haha I see. Well it would seriously compromise my relationship living that close to both those stores.... Just saying.

And ya AHB had flat rate, but not to AK. No one ever does, that's why I was so excited that it actually worked. This solves the main problem with brewing in Alaska! Shipping costs.

As for brewing them, I will probably brew 3 or 4 as fast as I can get water to boil, fill up my carboys, then go buy more carboys. My goal with this is to finally be able to fill my 6 tap (20 cf) Keezer.

Living in ak was awesome but shipping sucked. Only place to ship cheap was USPS from what I remember.

Yep that's correct. If a company doesn't ship USPS, I won't buy from them. It's just that simple. Kegs have probably been the hardest thing to acquire. We have a couple local shops that sell carboys for the same or cheaper then anywhere on the net, however the price tag on used ball locks is $90. This means I order 3 or 4 online at a time instead.

USPS Priority mail flat rate goes to Alaska and Hawaii as well for the same price as ConUS. SO depending on how it's packed and what box is used, it could be pretty reasonable to ship there no matter the weight.

So show me how many flat rate boxes it will take to send 12 beer kits up here? Each flare rate box still costs 7.95$. Either way, props to Midwest for keeping there word on the shipping!

I love Midwest Supplies. I guess it helps that I live 10 minutes from the store. The people in there are awesome, friendly and helpful. There's a couple guys in there who basically gave me free brew lessons and were awesome to talk to. I probably go to the store once a week and leave happy every time. Northern Brewer staff came off smug to me, JMHO. Midwest has great prices.

Farmhouse brew supply is legit too. I got 4 ball locks, 4 new perlicks, 8 way co2 manifold, and some other stuff coming in the mail from them as we speak.

It was 10-23 threw 10-25. Not a long promo, but I obtained two orders around $500, each shipped to Alaska for 7.95$ each. Can't complain haha
