As far as extract kits go, how is the quality of ingredients and recipes at Midwest Brewing? Just tried a kit from them for the first time. Looks great so far. Bottling this weekend. Where else are good sources for extract kits?

I have always been pleased with Midwest kits. They are one of the largest dealers in the country so their ingredients are always fresh. A few of my favorite Midwest kits are hop head double IPA, liberty cream ale, and noble Trappist ale.

I may be biased because Northern Brewer has always been closer to my house so I've brewed more of their kits but I've always liked them a bit better than Midwest for some reason. Done a few good ones from Midwest, but love Northern Brewer's kits. I've always gotten big ticket equipment from Midwest and ingredients/kits from Northern.

You know it's funny how different people are. I would say the exact opposite. I have brewed kits from both Midwest and Northern Brewer and I much prefer Midwest. I bought 3 kits from NB and they just didn't have the flavor that Midwest kits have. I don't know what kind of business NB does but Midwest does huge business and they turn their product very quickly which means they always have fresh product.

I've always ordered from Midwest, so I can't really compare the actual products. However, I can say that I really like their kits and the prices are better. Shipping and yeasts seem the same but $1 for crushing grains and the kits from nb cost more

I think the kits between Northern Brewer and Midwest are fairly close quality wise. I use to shop both but now it's pretty much Midwest or Austin Homebrew since Northern Brewer jacked with their shipping costs. Luckily I'm only and hour and a half from the twin cities and when I go there I'll stop at Northern Brewer before Midwest

My wife got me the kit-of-the-month club from Midwest a year or so ago and I was very happy with the beer I made from them. I no longer use extract so it's been awhile. My brother uses Northernbrewer and he likes them...can't go wrong with either.

Haha. The first sentence made me chuckle because I am the exact opposite. I have made kits from both and prefer NB.

NB is the same. I don't know the numbers but they also do a large amount of business and their stocks are always fresh.

I buy my equipment and ingredients from MW though because the ship APO.

Either company, you will get fresh, quality ingredients.
