After purging my garage this weekend, I ran across the August 2001 issue of Consumer Reports so I opened it up and read the article on Best Beers. It included this statement which made me chuckle:

'... We included beers from microbreweries (producing fewer than 15,000 barrels per year) last time, and their taste proved inconsistent. Microbrews are on the wane, and this time we tested none'.

I found it funny at least. It is especially amusing since many of my local restaurants have been going out of their way to offer more regional brewers.

In other news - the Patriots suck, we will win the war in Iraq in 3 months and Brittney Spears is a wonderful role model.

At the time they were correct. Vulture capitalists had invaded the space & quality was tanking. People who loved beer and knew how to brew were competing with major advertising money and closely-held distributors for taps.

On other hand, CR needs to stick to washing machines.
