I bought a bunch of shanks and faucets from a restaurant that was closing about a year ago. Most of the shanks came with the shank itself, a shank sleeve and a coupling nut. However a few of them were a different style and also included a thin metal washer. When I bought them the washer was positioned like it would fit between the faucet and the sleeve. However, when it's in that position it prevents the sleeve and coupling nut from being close enough to the faucet to connect properly. Any idea on how this washer is supposed to be positioned or if it's even needed? Thanks in advance!

I wound up positioning the washer bewteen the lock nut and the flange (not pictured). I don't think it's a necessary piece.
