I just got snipped 3 hours ago, logged on to pass the time while icing. Not too bad during the procedure, feels like I got a bad kick to the nads right now, could be a lot worse. Hopefully this is the worst of it though, if so i'll be feeling great in a day or two.

I got the 3-way snip about 15 years ago. On the way home from the doctor's, my wife had to make a screeching halt in our car. Not pleasant :) That night, she makes me a steak dinner as a reward for my bravery. She starts choking on a piece of steak so I have to perform the heimlich maneuver to pop it out. Not pleasant :)

That beats what happened to a guy I work with. Two days after he got fixed, his wife kicked him out of the house for a dude she'd been balling for a while.

Man, that is some seriously low-down dirty crap.

But I just have to say, my wife does not have the authority to kick me out of my house. If she's bangin' some other dude and she doesn't want to be around me she's more than welcome to leave.

Yay for sure. Before the procedure the female doctor asked me what I had been using for contraception. After an awkward pause and slowly mumbling "I pull out", The doctor laughed and said "well now you can finish the job". Seriously cool Doctor. I went back to work two days later.

Took the first step, made an appointment (Nov. 3) with my family doc to get the referral to the specialist. The referral is necessary get it covered by the government.

So, you're not going to have kids then?

o.o

Well if you have any brew related lifting to do round the house afterward I'll gladly take some of your finished product off your hands!

Here's hoping you or your wife don't change your mind after the procedure!

Just don't be like the guy where I used to work. He had 4 kids and got snipped, but failed to go back for evaluation. And I'm sure you won't be surprised when kid #5 started baking in the oven a month or two later.

If you're going to go through the process, at least make sure it's done right!

Probably was done right, but it take a few months to clean the pipes. Doctor probably even told him and everything. +1 to the trust but verify advice though (i.e. get tested).

I had the procedure about a month before #3 was born... I figured I wouldn't be getting any for a while anyway, so the timing was right ;)

I got it done in 04, two years after my second kid. I was 34 at the time. It took about 20 minutes, no pain. I had it done on a friday and spent the weekend chillin at home with bags of frozen peas on my junk and then, back to work on monday.

If you really are sure about no kids, do it.

This thread has just cracked me up! It's a no big deal surgery and don't get it done if you still want to eventually impregnate somebody! Lol

"paid for by the government" means taxpayers. But hey, we have to pay for people to have kids all the time. Paying for people not to have them seems like a better idea.

I could think of much worse things for the gubberment to spend my tax dollars on. And probably save money in the long run. Vasectomies for everyone! You get a vasectomy! You get a vasectomy! Erryone gets a vasectomy!

I had it done last friday, took about 15 minutes. I spent the weekend chillin (literally) and back to work this monday. 95% of the pain was the day of the procedure, recovery since then has been fast and not too bad at all.

If you are sure you dont want more kids, go for it.

I got snipped at 23 or so. Kids being the worst and all that.

It did kinda hurt on one side, immense pressure. Wasn't that bad though, and it was over quick. Iced junk and wore a jock watching movies for a weekend then was back to normal. I do have one side effect though... if I don't blow a load for a solid week or so I'll have a slight pressurized discomfort the next time I have sex. Nothing regular activity or a quick hand party can't solve.

Dude, your comments sometimes make my day better.

I'm waiting for the study to finish on the vasagel, stuff that they inject into the vas deferens. It filters out the "guys", but lets everything else through. It's also reversible.

sadly it may be until 2018 before it hits market.

Now that sounds good. I worry about an unnatural buildup.

He can't take much more Cap'n....he's going to blow!!!!

The only thing a vasectomy removes from the equation is the semen. Semen makes up a very small, extremely small, portion of ejaculate. The semen is still produced, it just doesn't have a path to the urethra. It doesn't build up, it gets absorbed.

Hormonal birth control has tons of negative side effects, one of which is reduced libido. Tubal ligation is a much more complex and risky operation than a vasectomy.

I'm not trying to single you out, but any man that's too chicken **** to take responsibility for permanent birth control and instead place that burden on their partner are being stupid, selfish and weak.

I just turned 40, so even if I did change my mind, it's a little late in life, practically speaking, to even consider starting a journey down the parenthood road.

There is a really big percentage of people here in Finland who don't have their first child or even consider getting married until after they are 40.

I'm guessing that you are not from some other human species...

We might start to take you seriously if you can gain control over your spelling and grammar.

Got mine done 6 months ago. Best thing I have ever done for our relationship. Her birth-control pills would play havoc with her hormones. Being in the mood maybe 3 nights a month. It was well worth my testicles resembling a avocado for a week.

I made the choice before last child was born,i thought what women go thru enough every month and the nine months they carry.a little bit discomfort for a few days, get the count done,if it's clear.business as normal.

I was snipped after our first. My wife was never supposed to have a child, so ours is kind of a miracle. It was no problem though... My mother worked for the Urologist, so it was free (sweet!)

I got a valium before, but did nothing for me (I really feel Im impervious to meds).... I was numbed (Lidocaine is acidic so that's why there is a stick and a burn) and he went to work. Told me not to chop any wood, and released me. I walked out to my wife, and I drove to Shallos for multiple beers and a tenderloin sandwhich... I was back in the gym in a week. Balls were pretty blue though

Thanks, edited.

Please let me know if I missed anything.

Since you asked: Its sperm, not semen.

Sperm is a small portion of semen. Semen=ejaculate. Sperm are the cells that get you pregnant. Semen is all the other fluid. When you have a vasectomy the sperm cannot enter the semen/ejaculate and you are effectively sterile.

Yes, that's correct.

Not sure how I got that wrong, twice.

You skipped sex-ed classes in school because your buddy had a case of beer?

I'd never consider a vasectomy, personally. Knowing me, if something got redirected from ejaculation, I'd probably explode. <joke>

Before my wife permanently decided not to add to our three teens, she had a coil. Coil is a very tiny device that is implanted into the uterus and about 99.9% effective with no side effects, and it's good for 5 years. When she made the decision, she went to get the coil removed and just got her tubes tied.

No I was posting from work on my phone and was in a hurry.

No excuse for missing that the second time around. I assure you I feel dumb for making that mistake.

After having it pointed out I realized the mistake, it wasn't something I've learned here in this thread.

Good for you wife undergoing a major operation to save you from a very minor one. Glad there were no complications for her.

I stand by my post (correcting for spelling and calling sperm seamen).

I can assure you that having a vasectomy does not cause pressure to build up at all. Your body produces a very minute amount of sperm per day which is easily absorbed. Your semen is not noticeably changed after a vasectomy.

My response that you responded to was out of a certain degree of frustration with men who treat the idea of them taking the responsibility to prevent unwanted pregnancies like a joke while expecting their spouse to undergo major surgery. Tubal ligation is MUCH more dangerous than a vasectomy. But hey, can't risk having sore balls, better to risk the life of a worthless woman, amiright?

That last bit was too far for sure, especially in my case and likely in many others - if you have never heard of condoms or just refuse to use one then maybe it is you who is stupid, selfish and weak.

Not to mention it was a comedic expression of an irrational fear, so STFU crusader, calm down.

I had mine done about 16 years ago. Pretty much the same as everyone else, done on Friday, frozen peas on your junk, sitting around all weekend, wearing a jock to support the boys. Mine did bruise and looked horrible for a while.

About a week after, I was lying in bed with my youngest daughter reading her a book and she turned over and accidentally kicked me in the jimmy's, I damn near threw up. It was the worst racking pain I had ever felt. Makes me sweat thinking about that.

Now that you've graduated from misspelling and failed conjugation of the most basic verb in any language, the verb 'to be', to an operational degree in gynecological surgery, you'd know that there are no less than 9 forms of tubal ligation. The most common form used nowadays, essure tubal ligation, doesn't even require local anesthesia and is, thus, a very minor and painless operation.
