hwo big is your pot? you need a minimum of 13 Gs for a 10 G batch.

I just might take you up on that. I am waiting to hear back from someone to see if they are coming but if not then you and I can do something. I am wanting an IPA or IIPA I think. Unless there is something else you have in mind that might pique my interests.

Its from some german brewery. I think it is like 13.2 gallons or something along those lines. It would probably work but would be pretty close to the top.

With the burner, I don't know maybe it is just my keg but the burner isn't wide enough and its actually fits up under the keg in the concave part and the keg won't sit right on it. Its this one, I am really thinking it is just my keg because a ton of people on here reccomend it.

thats the exact burner i use.... i think your just retarded. adn beware making an IIPA remember, cant do 10G of big beer in one of the mashtuns... yours is bigger, but not that much! youll still crap out at a 6-7% IPA

yeah assuming you can mash 35lbs in your tun... youll crap out at about 7.5 % so that just a nice IPA not IIPA range. so sez me!

I am liking the idea of the IIPA. I don't really have one in mind. I just did a porter and I am doing a Phat Tyre next weekend.

So IIPA would suit me well. Just let me know what type of Yeast you think would work there.

If you get someone else, that is fine too. I can do it last minute if you need it. Just enough time to get the yeast.

Just saw that IIPA might not work. I am down for IPA as well.

You're right, I didn't even think I might not be able to do it in my cooler. I would have no problem just having less than 5 gallons though.

Dataz, I got a suggestion for you. I got the below burner off CL a few months ago and a Keggle BARELY fits on it. There is only a few inches of burner that the keg is not covering. I feel like enough of a tap to the keggle would knock it over so what I am planning on doing is taking a round grate off an old webber grill and worm clamping it to the top of burner. Something like that might work for your situation, if I am understanding it enough.

yeah, jsut accept that 7.5% is about your max ABV for 10G of something and youll be fine. with a 10G cooler, you max out at about 4.5 %

I was considering trying to make something for it but since it is still brand new in the box and I am going to see if I can send it back to amazon and for just like 15 dollars more get the sq14

Remember, I have a second burner, but just not a spare propane tank for it. if we have enough tanks, I have a burner (and a keggle if needed).

skins_brew, if you come up with something intersting let me know and I will split with you. I would not mind getting a saison going, but throw in a twist like chai tea saison or something along those lines. If not, I am good with only splitting the one batch with LBIguard.

I doubt it would be something you nail on the first few tries. There are way too many variables, but you cannot get it right until you start experimenting. I will be making it, just not sure if anyone is down for a split batch on brewday.

Also, I talked to stephin about getting a big cork buy going. Since it's cheaper to buy by the 1000ct, I was thinking about getting some for myself but 1000 would last me almost forever...

I'm looking to do 250 myself. Let's see if we can get up an even 1000 or 2000 and I'll place the order next tuesday so we have them by the 16th.

Who else wants in and how much?

Al, if you want to we can split it, but one of us would have to do a double brew session since I think we are both using our gear for our other batches. If you dough in around 9-10, it is possible. I have been thinking about this chai saison for a few weeks, it would be nice to finally get a plan together...

I mean, we really just need to reuse the boil kettle, we can mash once the first persons beer is in the kettle. I will whip up a recipe to start from this weekend. I should have most, if not all, the non yeast ingredients in stock.

Well, once the first one is finished sparging, my cooler can be used for a second one, and I have a second kettle and burner...

I'll be heating water at 9am and hope to be doughed in and rocking by around 10.

Should be relatively simple....standard saison recipe + chai spices around the 5m to flameout?
