Just had an idea and didn't know if anyone has tried this before.

I am using a 52 qt Coleman cooler with the SS braid Supply Line hose. Seeing how the BIAB process uses the nylon paint strainers and are able to crush their grain down almost to flower consistency, what would be the consequences of sewing up one of those paint strainers around the SS Supply Line? Wouldn't this allow for a very fine crush, not to the extent of the BIAB because there is still an entry point, but a lot finer than just the SS braid?

Crush size has nothing to do with the straining ability of your manifold/false bottom, rather it is about the ability to lauter the grain from the runnings. ie we don't crush the grain too fine not for the sake of the kernel of the grain but the husk. The husk provides the space between the runnings to lauter (beer talk for run off). BIAB brewers can move the bag around and get the liquid of out the bag and rely on find weave of the bag to filter the grain particles out.
