Mash tun construction question

So I'm building a MLT out of a new 10 gal Home Depot cooler. I have all the parts that the project calls for. One thing I noticed when taking out the original spigot is the original grommet on the inside that they say to use seems to be a little flimsy. Will that withstand the heat from the mash or should I replace it with something else?

It "should" work fine. It's the original part after all. Personally, I just replaced everything. I'd rather spend a couple bucks up front than end up with hot wort all over the place.

You could always just test it with some hot water - outside...
