Does anyone use this? Just wondering if there is much difference between this and 2-row/pale malt. I have read what the Malting Co. of Ireland says and what each site that sells it has to say but I am curios if any of you use it and what your thoughts are.

I've used it. In a stout, you're definitely not going to distinguish it's flavor. I don't think there's much difference between it and 2-row or Maris Otter. It did make beer however. The high enzymes they advertise might be beneficial in the mash with other grains especially the flaked ones.

I have brewed with their Irish Ale Malt, and I used it as 2 row, The yield and flavor seem better than a reg 2 row base. Supplier did not have that malt last time I ordered, so I got the stout malt you have. Have yet to try, will use like 2 row, esp with adjudicated ones, like cream ale or CAP.

Thanks for the replies. I haven't purchased it yet but thought I might give it a go in place of Marris Otter in an English Bitter just to try something new.

I use Malting Co of Ireland malts in several of the beers at my micro. I ise Ale Malt in place of 2 row as entire base for my red ale. I use Stout malt in place of my 2-row/biscuit blend I used to use for my West coast IPA. I am a huge fan.
