Just for "fun" I am trying to see what I can make with leftover / donated ingredients I have.

Right now I have:

1.5 lb of Bavarian Wheat DME
1 oz German Magnum
1 oz German Perle
1 oz UK Fuggle

I also have US-05 and US-04 dry yeast around.

So what can I make?!

About a gallon or two of a moderate ABV? 1oz at 60 and .5 oz at 5 minutes. Just a nice plain wheat. You can't make that undrinkable even if you used all the hops. I don't know their acid levels.

dump it all in bucket and see what you get. Brüt ipa is all the rage and it's just dry hopped. no need for a mash. and @davidabcd i'd recomend picking up a 1.5 dollar 4lb bag of sugar to add too for a 5 gal batch. you made me use my brain and punch it into beersmith.

without the sugar you'd only get a 1 gal batch....

On the plus note, it would be hoppy! alcoholic hop tea! 'designed for all day drinking'.....lol, have fun at any rate! :tank:

So a gallon? That makes sense. I was thinking since it was DME, you could squeeze out a decent two gallon batch. I agree you can dump it in a bucket. And it also would still be okay if you skip the timing of the hops.
I did laugh when I read the reply. With all due respect to @bracconiere, don't add that sugar just to make a five gallon batch. It's not that it would be terrible, but "balance" is no longer a word you would use to describe your creation. However, table sugar in the 1/2 pound range might give a nice Belgian twist.

Here’s the hop packets I’m dealing with, I’m thinking a two gallon batch is doable. Guessing I’d get some sort of wheat beer with a little spice? I’m may only use the German hops and save the Fuggle.

a two gal batch would give you a 2.5% ABV beer? or a SG of 1.027. i just google'd apple juice & wheat dme. it told me there's something called Graf...a hybrid beer cider sorta thing.

Anyway, unless your using a 4 liter Carlo Rossi bottle as a fermenter. it's going to be a work/small beer.

Any updates on this? Sounds very interesting.

Finally got around to it this evening, here are my notes using just stuff I had on hand:

1.5 lb Bavarian Wheat
1.5 gallons spring water - to start
1 gallon of apple juice (Whole Foods organic, thick kind) - at finish
0.5 gallons spring water - at finish

1 oz Cascade hops boiled for 15 minutes

US-05 Dry Yeast pitched 4/5 of packet

O.G. 1.045

Currently fermenting under pressure with target PSI of 15 at room temperature.

UPDATE - Man this has been an interesting one! Flavor has definitely evolved with age but the most interesting part is its almost like a lemon pie taste. Not really getting much apple but lots of gram cracker (wheat) and some lemon flavor and mild tartness (no signs of infection). I think the lemon / tart flavor is a result of not using an acid blend when adding the apple juice but I can't say I don't like the way it turned out just definitely not much apple taste here! Will post a picture of a pour later.

F.G. was 1.005 by the way
