I have Icey Tek Cooler (Icey Tek no longer in business). Basically, this is a commercial grade cooler, and has a 3/4" female pipe thread plug. The dimensions are like any other rectangular 50qt cooler. I have got a braided stainless washing machine supply hose I am planning to strip the interior from to make a homemade bazooka tube. Everything about using this cooler is far superior to using a wal-mart style cooler, it is much more durable, easier to set up, and much easier to keep clean. In addition, due to the level of insulation, temperature drop over a 1 hr mash period should be virtually be non existent. My question is if the grain bed will be to shallow for doing 5 gallon batches. I am planning on batch sparging, not sure if this will be an issue there.

Thanks for the reply's. I've done a few extract batches, and looking at the various online tutorials, batch sparging AG appears to be just about as easy. My only local option for supplies doesn't keep much in stock in terms of ingredient kits, however they do have an extensive selection of grain and yeasts, ect. They are a full functioning brewery, and as such have plenty of grain supplies. My thought is that since they deal in bulk grain, and have good pricing on it, I can both save money per batch, and not have to pay shipping. Nicest thing, they have a corona mill on site they let customers use to mill their own grain per their preference.
