Hi guys..Just brewing my first homebrew using a Coopers Australian larger kit. The original specific gravity was 1033. Currently after 7 days the specific gravity is 1001. The temperature of the fermentation has been approx. 20-22C.

Just wondering is there a reason why the specific gravity readings are so low. How will this effect the final taste of the beer or is there a chance that there is an infection....

Thanks for all replies..

It will have a dry feeling in your mouth. It will be like dry wine. You did probably make a little more alcohol though.

Is this supposed to be similar to Foster's?

I am not sure if it is supposedly like Fosters....Just a bit worried because the instructions gave the final SG as 1004---1008...

Have you checked that your hydrometer is accurate by checking the gravity of some distilled water at the correct temperature (usually 60F).
If it reads less than 1.000, you need to adjust all readings by adding the difference between 1.000 and whatever it read.
