My home course was closed this last week to prevent damage to the greens (that are way too sensitive to the cold), but my backyard net wasn't closed. I'll find out Wednesday if I discovered the secret to the golf swing or if I completely screwed it up.

I'm only working on 3 or 4 things, so what could possibly go wrong?
You've been practicing for an entire week?

You could have worked on 3 or 4 more things! Those 3 or 4 should be fixed by now!

Agreed. I will get on that. Been meaning to do that sort of thing for so many years.
I bought this tripod and it basically is a mainstay in the "Sunday Bag" for going to the range. Currently $13.99 with coupon from Amazon...

And then if you actually want to do any real swing analysis, watch the below that will cover appropriate camera positioning:

Haven't been playing much, but my son took me out for 9 holes over the weekend for my b-day.

Pretty rough round... My first full swing and my last full swing were great. Between... Not so much. I really only count one "good" one.

But that last swing...

Short par 4 (274), uphill. Absolutely smoked one. Perfect sound, perfect ball flight... Made it to the front fringe so I had putter in hand. (Would have driven the green if the ground didn't slope up to the green).

And the interesting part?? I totally Scheffler'd the trail foot!

Its those one off gems that keep us coming back. I had a guys weekend a few weeks ago and we played a course in Truckee CA. Nice course and not way above me skill level. First day was horrible, so drinking started early. LOL. Second day on the other hand was very different, at least on the front nine. Started much the same, but had a run of par, birdie, birdie and par to card a 47 on the front. Back went south and I carded a 53 for an even 100. I was really hoping for something in the 90's but I think the beer took over. LOL. Either way, that is what keeps us coming back, the threat of a good round. LOL

You know, it’s that one perfect shot that (just like Michael Corleone) “Drags you back in” and ‘forces’ you to dream of your next round.

Fortunately my last round contained no great shots, following what turned out to be an unrecognized rotator cuff injury earlier in the round that I chose to “play through.” The long rehab and approaching winter kept me off the course, and I never made the comeback.

I still miss it though, and keep thinking I’ll go to the driving range to see if I’ve got anything left in the tank. Been nearly eight years.🥲

it's just too hot here, 90 plus for 2 weeks, most courses let the grass grow so it won’t be enjoyable anyway
I certainly remember growing up in those hot Central Missouri summers. But lately it's been brutally hot here in the East. Heat indices in the triple digits for the past three days, and forecast for tomorrow as well with probable severe weather, which will hopefully bring needed rain and cooler temperatures. High today, mid 90s F. Tomorrow (Thurs.). Friday, high forecast 73F. BREW DAY!!!

Been waiting ten days to brew this Tupelo Honey Cream Ale, last brew planned for this summer.

I got in three rounds last week but will have to be content hitting into my backyard net this week, doing a little work on the house. Maybe that will help me with a swing change.

Easily using the clubs pool more than the course with construction on commute, rain and heat. Played front nine yesterday before dinner and jest wasn't that bad. I think it was the first time I've played the back nine this year. Nice cool and crisp the first half of the day and then the smoke from Canadian wildfire came in and got sneaky tropical.

This year with the rain the courses have been in good shape. Just haven't been able to time walkable weather. Almost started using cart

Got to play on an actual course for the first time in a long time (like a couple years) yesterday. A 9-hole pitch and putt, but still. And pretty much spur-of-the-moment, I wasn't planning on it, so I didn't have balls or glove or anything, much less my clubs.
Brought the kiddo along as his first time on a course too; we've brought him to the driving range a bunch of times this year and late last.
Not at home, so neither of us had our clubs - made a mix and match of vintage clubs and some senior ones from my grandfather. Most everything was almost as old as me, i think.
I played about as I expected. Putting as usual really hurt my score.
I did get one really good shot; 120 yards through a really narrow window of trees, I stuck it maybe 10 feet past the pin, it rolled back to about 4 feet. Of course I missed the putt, but did get the comeback for par.
Those are the ones that keep you coming back.

I play the champion course at Cyprian Keyes a lot. Never done their par 3 course. They all look like legit par 3's and in good shape. It never seems crowded either. For just a little more looks like a fun course

Nice, I'm not terribly far from there, pricing is pretty good for a course like that.
The one I played was down the Cape - Cotuit Highlands. $20 for me, $10 for the kiddo.
Not the greatest course I've played - there was a lot of sand all over, some of the "tee boxes" were driving range mats, and so on.
But like I said, spur of the moment, we kind of decided the night before, no time to book a tee time at a better course.
Next time I take him, we'll plan it a bit more ahead of time.

It's a nice club. The 16th hole on the championship course runs parallel to one of the par 3 holes and is just as scenic and challenging. The good thing is it never seems busy so you can take your time and have fun.

My brother and his daughter have been playing a little and I recommended it. It's only $5 more than the pitch and putting they go to.

They hold a good pga intro 4 weeks course for $99 in the spring

It's been a while since I've eaten there but they have Worcester Restaurant week going on right now.

It's a fun and beautiful place

I'm shopping for a new bag on Amazon. This review cracked me up. Not because of the golf cart accident, but the guy in the background taking a leak.

I can just imagine that:

Tim: "So what'd you tell your wife about what happened? We were so hammered that I was pissin' in the picture afterward because I barely realized where we were!"
Steve: "I told her that the cart path flooded, and the cart hydroplaned out of control, and that's what caused it to flip... Not us screwin' around!"
Tim: "...And she bought that? Seriously???"

I made a commitment when I started this topic that I would play every week. I still play every week. Almost always alone, which how I like it to be honest. And I walk.

I play evening rounds mostly. It's cooler, less people, and lets me get a day of work in.

Here's last night, the 8th hole at Chi Chi Rodriguez course here in Clearwater. I play this LOT. I can walk to it from my house.

btw, I do play 18. Looking at the level of the sun in the pic above, and knowing I was on the 8, you'd assume I only play 9.

I typically start on on the back, then finish on the front. Why? I know when I finish the 18, and come back to the 1 hole, I can fly. By then the course has been closed for an hour.
