I feel violated...sort of...not really actually... I hadn't slept for two days straight, and at the end of it all, I drove across town and got a used sanke keg that holds pressure. What to do... what to do.?

I've got a basic 6.5G turkey fryer that I can do 5G batches in pretty easily, 2 ~6G carboys, a 5G corny, so I'm not sure where this would even help me out.

Nevertheless, I've got it now.

What are your favorite uses for sankes? How many folks out there use them for mega-batch bulk aging, or as fermenters? Any thoughts on your experiences with them? :tank:

Cut the lid off and make a big boil pot.

A fermenter would be another option, but if you aren't making bigger batches it wouldn't do much for you.

I converted one into a keggle for 10 gallon batches and five more that I use for fermenters. I'm going to make another keggle so I can start partigyle brewing and triple my output on brew day. They work great for fermenting. I boil mine after rinsing to sanitize them.

You won't have a need for a 15G fermenter if you can only do a 3.5-4G boil (5G boil pot). I would turn it into a boil Kettle and be able to do full 6.5-7 gallon boils for 5G batches or even 12-13 G boils for 10G batches.

Yeah, if you're only doing small batches a big fermenter doesn't make all that much sense and a full volume boil will improve your beer.

However, if you leave it intact for a while at least your options will be open in the future. You can always batch like the big breweries do as well. Double batch of the same beer into the fermenter together.

I still do 5g batches, and use my sanke as a boil kettle. i often invite a friend over and do a 10gal full boil in it, and we split the batch.

Kinda messed up about the 5G turkey fryer, more that I do 5G batches with it (6.25G boil).
Gotchya

I also do my 5G batches in my sanke along with my 10G batches. Its a very versatile pot :D
