I know this is off topic and this discussion has gone on to long, but jonny deserves a little defense imo. Daytrippr was uncharacteristically a little snarky in saying sigh, no they arent .....used here interchangeably. And jonny replied repeating the sigh, with also that he believed they were used interchangeably. He provided a link supporting his argument which I didn't follow up on for its accuracy. Either way I think I have seen burst and force used together to mean the same thing. I'm not stating whether they are the same or commenting on what they should or shouldn't mean just that I've seen them used together. I felt compelled to clarify how I read this discussion from the outside looking in. Being a fool I have personally used all kinds of terms that thanks to this thread i now know are all force carbonating.

On topic it sounds like there's not enough carbonation in the solution. So either let it sit longer or turn it up to do it quicker.

Hi all, I've made a couple of beer batches so far (so still a noob), and all of them have been kegged. However, I had a bad foaming problem so I decided to change my 5' lines out for 10' lines. I currently have some of Biermuncher's delicious Centennial Blonde recipe that I'm trying to force carb, but it's been about 5 days now, with no noticeable increase in bubbles or anything.

There is no head present when it pours, but I hear the tank hissing as it fills the keg after I release some CO2 vía the safety valve. I am using 12 psi @ 40F, but I was wondering if my new lines were maybe too long for my system? Or maybe I should compensate for them? Any help would be appreciated!

Ok, getting back to your original dilemma. I am a set 'n forget force carbonator myself. My beer lines are 3/16 inch (inside diameter), they are 11 feet long and connected to Perlick taps.

The beer fridge is set to 38F, the Co2 regulator is set to 14psi and in 1 week the beer is carbonated and served at the same 14 psi. I would think that any system setup exactly the same would also carbonate and pour perfect beers. As long as all of the components are in good working order.

The frustrating part about this whole thing is his complete inability to just say he was wrong and move on. I have been (and will continue to be) wrong many, many times on this site. When I realize I am wrong, I don't try to blame others for it (which is what he is doing), I simply take it as a learning experience and move forward. If I knew everything already, this forum would get boring real quick. Every time I log into this forum I learn something.

And JOHNNYROTTEN's reply to the OP was snarky and incorrect, and set the tone for the conversation that followed.

Your outta your mind dude.
I wasn't even going to respond to your previous comment of " I Should do the respectable thing" but since you decided to chime back in...Your first comment on the thread and everyone after was directed toward me in a negative way. You never once even acknowledged the OP or his question, something I did,and you want me to bow out??...I think you better check yourself with your respectability

How many posts are we going to endure that are so far off topic that the original question has been lost? None of this bickering is helping the OP. Why don't you guys take this argument to the PM's?

I would love to end it,nor did I start it... in over 30 posts the only ones who tried to help were me and Daytripper which were on the first 3 posts,Everything after was BS. But if they keep coming at me I'm going to keep defending myself...I'm OK with agreeing to disagree....So everyone just leave me alone or I'm going to go to my local collage and use there safe place,I'm hurting inside

Ahem

Long beer lines do not affect the amount of carbonation in your beer. It only affects the rate of flow of you beer. Whether you had 10 foot or 1 foot lines, the amount of carbonation would be the same.

I always use the "set it and forget it" method of force carbonation. And I don't even think of pouring the first glass until at least a week of force carbing at 12 PSI at 38 F.

The OP's question has been answered, and answered quite well, by several people. Sure we're off-topic... But is this your first experience with a forum? Another 10 or so posts, and someone will invoke Godwin's law. Hell, maybe I will. :D

Okay, now I just have to disagree with this. I think my post helped -- in its own subtle way. Well, maybe it didn't help very much, but I tried.

Oh, you meant help the OP. No, nothing there. I forgot -- what was the question again?

Seriously? Grow up a bit. Stay on topic. Quit arguing about something so ridiculous.

The topic is about forced carbonation and length of beer lines.

The topic is not "how to argue unnecessarily on a forum".

Keep on topic or go find a new forum. No further warnings will be given.

ENOUGH.

END IT. Right now.
