Fired Matt Millen.... 5 years Overdue
Kitna goes to IR and he's healthy.... Adios ya bum
Trading Roy Williams to Dallas for 1st, 3rd and 5th round pick.... Priceless

Williams was going to be walking out the door after this season anyhow since this is the last year of his contract. Atleast they realized that the season is over and started looking towards the future. They're going to get 3 picks from the top 33 players, and that's not too shabby. So they have alot of draft picks, an owner who is willing to spend a boatload of cash and fans who are dying to support a winner. The vacant GM job got much sexier for potential candidates.

So now they can ruin 3 more picks career. I love the Lions, but they will suck until every stinking Ford is dead and buried. Plain and simple.

Ahoy hoy,
Since we have no teams here in Alaska, I always default to the teams from where I was born. That being Detroit Michigan, I have been lucky enough to see the Tigers win, the Pistons win, the Red Wings win, Michigan win, MSU win, my local high school win, the Lions.........aw crap.
Ive always heard from the old timers that the lions of the 50s were the bomb. I just hope that before I die, they at least make it to a superbowl.
Kay sara sara.......
I bid you all a great day!

It's getting beyond frustrating. After last year, I thought they might be close to gaining the playoffs. Alas, they stink more than ever again. Wayne Fontes, where are you??!!

Nope. The Lions haven't won in DC in like 30 years. This is probably the worst team they've had in those 30 years. I predict that the Redskins will destroy them.

If by some chance the Skins do lose this one, you should be very, very embarassed and pissed off.

Oh, fo sho. Even worse than losing to the Rams! But we play in Detroit, so...yeah. This team is nothing if not unpredictable

Oh ya, I forgot the game was in Detroit. Meh, it doesn't change my prediction any. Skins win 38-13.

Evan, you'll be happy to know that 3 more wins by the Skins and I have to sport a freaking Redskins avatar for a week.

dayum! who'd you make that bet with? I think we can eek out 3 more. We do still have to play the bengals, and all three of our NFC east bredren at FedEx.

Tell me about it. Second half of the Texans game was interesting. Looked like a different team, offense and defense, that came out of the locker room.

If you get the second half Lions, it might be interesting. If the first half Pu**yCats come out.... well.... :(

Soper. That's what I get for hanging out in druck chat!

I was talkin about the skins, actually. The Lions have been pretty consistently bad. The skins have won or lost all of their games by less than 2 score. Their wins have all come by a touchdown or less. So there's never any rest for us poor skins fans...going into the 4th quarter, well, get out the pepto. :cross:

So, any Lions fans wanna talk sh*t? You know, "another Rams" kind of thing?

I'm thinking that this is the Lions first victory of the season. I've been predicting that they go 0-16 for the year...but I got a feeling about this game.:rockin:

I do think that they will win 1 game somewhere along the way, and that it will be at home, but I don't think that this week is it.

I hope your feeling is wrong. That's the funny thing about the skins, never underestimate their power to lose to junk teams, or beat great teams.

For the first time in 8 years I have a sense of optimism - after this season is over of course.

Fire Lewand, fire Mayhew, fire the entire coaching staff. Pay Pioli $5 million a year (that's what William 'Darth Sidious' Clay Ford, Sr. payed Millen for 8 years anyway) and let Pioli hire whoever the hell he wants. With Piloi (or any GM other than Millen) in control of 5 of the first 88-100 picks (depending on how Dallas finishes) there is finally hope for this franchise.

Colt McCoy, Sam Bradford, - if either of them declare early - or Matt Stafford at #1 (I'd be ok with Micheal Oher, Andre Smith or Malcolm Jenkins at #1 as well), best DE/MLB/CB/OT/QB with the pick that they got from the Cowboys depending on what position they take with the #1 overall pick. Round 2 take best player available at OT/DE/MLB/CB/OT/OG. Round 3 take best defensive players at DE/MLB/OLB/CB/DT.

This team needs an infusion of young players to go with what is hopefully a completely new administrative staff from top to bottom.

Is it too early to start the HBT NFL '09 draft thread? I know where my team is picking (except for the picks that they stole from the Cowboys) :drunk:

Failure of this magnitude can only mean good things for next year, right? :(

I'm guessing that could be true for any team but the Lions.

They need to trade down a few spots from #1 and get a few more picks. That way they can go after James Lauranitis or Rey Maualuga. I'd prefer James Lauranitis personally because he is a more disciplined MLB. After that they need an OL BADLY. A good OL can make mediocre QB and RB excellent.

I don't agree with drafting a QB #1 because we all remember how well the Andre Ware and Joey Harrington projects went for Detroit. Unfortunately they have Kitna and Culpepper for one more year after this season. I say start Stanton next year and give the kid a shot, if he is a legit NFL QB roll with it for a few years. If he sucks badly get rid of him, he was a bad second round pick to begin with. However, 2010 there are some very attractive FA QB's such as Jason Campbell, Eli Manning, Phillip Rivers and Ben Roethlisberger. Throw enough money at any of those guys and build them a team by 2010 and anything is possible.

This may sound redundant, but technically we are rebuilding. New coach, new offensive and defensive coordinators and most importantly, a whole new offensive scheme.

I've heard the whole "just sell it, Ford's" before, but I gotta say that they seem to be trying to field a winning team. Matt Millen was supposed to be a football genius and who knew that Charles Rogers, Mike Williams and Joey Harrington would be busts (personally I think Harrington had the talent, he just didn't have support from his fellow players and coach). Each draft that came and went, the talking heads alluded to the success of the Lions' draft--noone would have guessed those drafted would bust.

I think that once this offense starts clicking that we will start winning games, we've already shown improvement: 0 touchdowns in game 1, 1 touchdown in game 2 and 3 touchdowns in game 3

Look out Minnesota, I'm feeling optimistic (they probably aren't expecting much anyway).

Oh come on, Harringtion was a piano player with the lowest arm strength in the league. Rogers had been disciplined for drug use at MSU and the Lions didn't do their due dilligence or pay attention to it. Williams, a purported wide receiver, was out of school for a year wasting his tight end speed away to that of a tackle. These were some of the worst string of draft picks in the history of the NFL, and yes, they could have been forseen. You waste this many picks and more and this is what you wind up with.
