level in boil kettle

what all do you use to check the level in your boil kettle when you know you've collected enough from your MLT? i have a sight glass that i use in my HLT, but didnt' know the best way for the BK

I used a gallon pitcher to fill it and made marks on the pot.

i use a converted keg. when it gets to the middle of the top ring, it's time to stop

I have a sight glass in my keggle.

I don't have a HLT because I heat water in the kettle, pump it up to the mash tun, then recirculate for sparge.

I have a piece of oak 1x3 that I made graduated marks on. Works like a champ!

i have a wooden paddle for my mlt.. would it be ok to put marks on that?

I have an eyeball...when the kettle is near full I know I best get to boiling.

I have marks that I scratched into my kettle, and marks on my paddle. Measured the kettle with a gallon jug that I had previously measured. Turns out exactly 2 inches in the kettle is 1 gallon!
