I hope he offers me one of his beers. It would be an honor to try the beer that got me started!

Be sure to post pics for sure. It is schweet this guy has made the videos he has. The more that spread the word the better. The coopers kits he uses are cheap way to learn the fermentation process. Plus he can drink on a much smaller budget than needed for commercial swill which is why he brews. You get 6 gallons of beer for like $20. For him that is a huge savings. The fact he shares his hobby and breaks down the process for others to learn from is awesome.

True, but I'm doing no such thing Revvy. I simply wanted to send the guy some brew and the whole conversations went off on a tangent. I've actually talked to him about sending him some of my homebrew and he says that him and his wife have decided that they will not receive any homemade products due to the fact that some nasty person may try to hurt him. But he did say that if I'm ever in his neck of the woods, he would have me over and I told him the same. I think he's a real stand up guy and that he's done nothing but help spread the hobby.

Another issue is the fact that you would be sending alcohol over the border, and here in Canada that is frowned upon. I assume Craig would either be taxed heavily on it, or it would be dumped if the authorities ever found out since its not commercial beer.

Canada is kind of sad when it comes to vice. Which may be a good or bad thing depending on what side you sit on. We are ripped off by the government through high taxes on it, which as mentioned before is the reason why Craig homebrews.

Brew on Premise places are quite popular here in Canada, many people have tried them at one point in time to save money. I find most though give up since the beer they end up making is not very good. We have NO stores like Austin, NB or morebeer in the WHOLE country. We have a few BOP places that also sell their ingredients to homebrewers and a couple of hobbyists that have opened online stores.

All in all if you don`t have the passion for beer you wouldn`t go through what we go though in Canada to make homebrew. Craigs passion seems more to be video than beer.

I wish I had made an impact like CraigTube has, look at all of us talking about him! I hope he finds this thread. It is great there are people who are passionate about spreading the craft. And after all this attention he is hitting brewing celebrity status!

Isn't it kind of funny that one of the most popular homebrewers, at least in internet-land is Craigtube? A guy that brews using coopers kits. A guy that may be more responsible than any other person out there in getting more people into the hobby?

People would much rather pop something in the microwave than spend several hours cooking an authentic dish. Likewise people would rather watch a 10 minute video series on kit brewing on YT than reading several books. In my case, his videos got me to read several books, because I didn't want to make beer the way you make tang. But his videos did spark my interest in brewing and hats off to him because of that

I'm not sure he'd disagree with you. He sort of makes it clear that if you want to move up to bigger and better go for it. He's really mostly there to show people some basic ways to get started and an easy way to make beer.

Yep and he's good at what he does. If I wasn't into craft beer and I was paying ontario prices for cheap stuff, I'd probably be doing what he's doing.

I'm with Revvy, It's time we leave the guy alone and stop acting like elitists because "we do it better'. Craigtube doesn't give 2 sh!ts about making craft beer. If he didn't live in Canada he'd likely live a perfectly happy life on Natty Light.

And I walked into the shop, looked at the extract cans and said. "What do I do?" the store owner said one of his best customers shows people on YouTube, and wrote "CraigTube" on the back of his business card. And I found it that way . . . weird I know

BTW what store is it that you guys go to? I am pretty familiar with Hamilton and know all about Brew Time, but I have a feeling its not Brew Time.

Its called Complete Home Brewing on Fennell Ave. Its more of a wine shop than beer. But the guy just got some grains and hops in, so stayed tuned to Craig and watch him experiment.

I take my hat off to Craig. When I first wanted to get into brewing, I didn't have a fookin' clue what to do. I figured the easiest way would probably be to start with extract, see if I really liked it and wanted to continue with it.

I searched youtube and Craig was the only guy I found who explained it clearly and simply. I went with his information for my first batch and then started building from there.

Additionally, Craig has a nice on-camera personality, so it's not painful to watch him do what he does (unlike Mr. Watch Out for the Yeast On My Arm man).
