Isn't the malt mill 2x as wides as the BC? That definitely would add starting resistance.... I know in the world of rock crushers they turn the rollers on before adding anything because the loading of a static start is very large.

True, never knew it was twice as wide with less than half the hopper?

Yeah the Malt Mill has 10" long rollers compared to the Barley Crushers 5"'s. So you would have roughly twice as much grain on the face of the rollers at start up.

I just bought a MaltMill back in June and it's been great.
One thing though...
my last brew session the adjuster knob came out of the roller cassing.
I was able to put it back in by tilting the mill and inserting the knob...but i just found this odd that it would just fall out...
 
I don't think I have responded to what I have now. I purchased a barley crusher. I have had no problems with it at all, worked with ease.
 
My replacement BC is on its way... sorta... they lost my shipping addy.
