Thought I'd make a thread in case this helps someone later. I based the design off of this video () with a few modifications.
When it's time to mill, I all I have to do is take it out of the bucket, turn it right side up, unfold the wings and I'm ready to go. The hopper is an old PET carboy. I left just enough of it so I can put a lid on the whole bucket when it's not in use. The hopper can fit at least 10 lbs of grain, which is where most of my batches end up. I've not tested but my guess is it can probably hold 13-14 lbs. The milled grain drops right into the bucket and since the base is a relatively tight fit nearly all of the dust stays in the bucket. The base is an old piece of MDF. The underside is "coated" in packing tape. This ended up being a pretty good move because the dust from the underside wipes away very easily.
I countersunk and glued two bolts in place through the underside. The bolts go through the base and act as hinges for the wings that keep the mill in place. The knobs are tightened to keep the wings in place while milling. When I'm done, all I have to do is loosen the knobs and I can fold the wings back in place for storage.
The screw holes in the box utilize the threads from the mill. Otherwise it's nothing fancy, just butt joints reinforced with some small dowels. The carboy is held in place by a few screws into the box.
Anyway I'm pretty happy with the way this turned out. It certainly looks...rustic, but it does work well and between storage and dust minimization I couldn't be happier. I've been using this set up for a little over a year now and haven't had to make any modifications.
Cheers!
