OK, this recipe is going to piss a lot of people off, but I just really couldn't give a **** 'cuz I just bought a six pack of this swill and poured 5 and a half beers out on my driveway.

here's the recipe. I guarantee it's a perfect clone.

We start with a six-pack of Newcastle Brown Ale. Not an exceptional beer, but still a solid and respectable example of the style by most accounts. Pretty good stuff really. Hell, I like it. Shame we're about to **** it all up.....

Pour the six bottles into suitably sized container, then add half a cup of Clorox Bleach. This will both lighten the color and add important flavoring components to the brew...

After two weeks, once the color approaches that of urine, shoot an entire household sized can of Lemon Pledge (for flavoring) into the brew. It doesn't really matter what sized can you have, just get the next bigger one. We're desperate at this point and we really need some Lemon flavor. Get two cans!!!!!

OK, OK... So your local grocery store is out of Lemon Pledge and they just can't get you any more. (Did you really try?) OK, fine.... Let it settle for a few days, bottle it up, and you now have a spot on clone of Leinenkugels Sunset Wheat.

Enjoy.

There's one thing that you forgot if you want to be spot on... You need to dry hop with a box of fruity pebbles. :)

Hahahaha. My friends used to drink this ****. I always thought it tasted like a bowl of fruit loops in water.

Hmm.... I see what you're saying....

But to really get the recipe just right we need to only use the chemical flavored powder, and not add any additional grainy flavors that might come from the "pebbles".

We just need the fruity, chemistry lab flavored part....

Is there a substitute we could use to make up the difference? I'm concerned that adding anything "grainy" might throw off the delicate "swimming pool" and "artificial lemon" balance that is the true essence of this brew....

Oh man. This made me laugh. While I definitely love my homebrews and great beers from around the world, I don't consider myself a beer snob. I have no problem throwing back a couple Buds at a ballgame. Note - I don't really enjoy them. But it's part of being at a ballpark, tailgating, etc. That said, Leinny's Sunset Wheat is the most vile beer I've ever consumed. The first time I had one, I poured it down the drain after one swallow b/c I thought something was wrong with it...only to find the 2nd beer was the same.

There HAVE to be artificially flavorings in there. In fact, I've pretty much sworn off the rest of Leinenkugels products due to my hate for that awful excuse for a beer. I have no respect for the brewery after putting on that abomination.

Serenity now. Serenity now.

I hear ya. I'm not a beer snob, and I'm definitely not a beer dumper. I'll still occasionally throw some Busch Lite into my fridge just to slow down my consumption of the "good stuff", and I don't really mind it. If I'm at a friend's house and he offers me a Keystone, I can choke it down to be polite. Hell, last summer I picked up a sixer of Old Milwaukee just to see if it was really as bad as I remembered it from the last time I had it (high school, 20 years ago. It's worse than I remembered). Through all of that, I've always held to the rule that I don't dump beer. If I open it, I drink it.

Until I tried Sunset Wheat. Just the thought of finishing the bottle made me cringe in fear. No way I could have finished off the whole six pack.

Don't understand how this brand gets priced on the same level as Sam Adams. They're not even close to being in the same league.

So, I'm new to this method of brewing and all methods....Did I miss the steep temp?
