Here's the recipe from my current 5 gallon batch of Oatmeal Stout. Approximate 1L starter was made, pitched on 1/16/10. Some strange weights are involved because I used partial leftovers from a different 2.5 gallon batch. Any comments appreciated!

Grains:
1 lb rolled oats browned slowly in oven
0.5 lb Crystal 60L
0.5 lb Chocolate 350L
0.5 lb Black Patent 480L

Malt Extracts:
3.3 lb Muntons Light LME
1.65 lb Muntons Dark LME
1.5 lb Pilsen Light DME

Hops:
2 oz EK Goldings (US) 4.9 percent AA

Yeast:
WLP004 Irish Ale

Crushed crystal, chocolate, and black patent coarsely with the bottom of a beer bottle. Steeped at 150 for one hour, then removed. Added extracts and hops bag, heated an additional hour at 150, slowly rising to 161 (accidentally). Let cool, pitched starter. I realize now I pitched this yeast strain a too hot, but pretty sure I'll be fine because it started right in to bubbling away!

Starting Gravity: 1.051 at 74 degrees Fahrenheit (approximately 1.052-1.053)

Tasted the hydrometer vial's share pre-primary and I see it being good...really good...:mug:

I didn't see a boiling step. I'm assuming you boiled between the steeping and the cooling. Otherwise looks tasty!
