Since this is my first time brewing, I’m learning on every step. It’s been 8 days since I started my Saison in the fermenter. Most of the activity stopped two days ago and I can see everything starting to settle to the bottom now. One thing I noticed is that on the top, there is a layer of yeast that formed. Is it natural for something like that to happen?

When your fermentation stopped there was way more CO2 dissolved in the resulting beer than it can hold for long and as it "belches" the CO2 out the CO2 bubbles carry yeast and hops to the surface. It looks terrible but is totally normal.
