How does something like that happen? Bottles look intact - they froze/defrosted and the cork forced its way out through the cap?
Cap and cork on the Cantillon were both in place, either the corks shrank or the beer froze and forced its way around. No idea really. The BIIR had no cap and was dry.
Was this box coming international from a shop, or trade? Regardless sorry for your loss!
Biab order. Already emailing with Kurt.

Also 2011 Girardin is very mmmmmmm

A couple years ago I got a random PM on RateBeer from a guy I had never talked to saying that it seemed like I appreciated lambic and wondering if I'd like to buy some bottles of Girardin lambic with blackberries added. Obviously. This bottle had the number 5 written on the cap, and I've only got two left. It is still drinking absolutely amazing. Very tart, wonderfully carbonated, a lot of earth and leather tones, and still really light and complex.

Love that beer. Wish Neil and Ross would blend some more. As I recall, Girardin died not long after delivering their barrel to them...

I'm not quite sure that's how the story goes, as the barrel was a freshly emptied and uncleaned Bordeaux barrel. I'll ask Alan about it though. Jan Girardin, who was the delivery/supply manager for the brewery, passed away in August 2012. Paul Girardin still runs the brewery though and has three daughters and a son, so hopefully the name will continue for at least another generation!

I was thinking of Jan Girardin. Good point.

Had a box from Etre Gourmet arrive at work yesterday, just went and picked it up - 1 bottle of De Cam Oude Kriek shattered, 1 bottle of De Cam Framboise half empty, and 2 bottles of De Cam Oude Lambiek leaked a few ounces each. I've got three more boxes coming from this order, I hope to hell they have better luck than this box did...

Have a huge order coming from Biab. 18 tilquin. 12 lambikstoemper Lpk, st lam, lpg.....

I have some big-time lambic headed my way and I'm hoping nothing leaks or busts at customs. Thanks for making me worried now. :(

Any word on when blackberry tilquin is dropping?

And don't blame me. Everyone else has for me equally worried

Serious question - why ship during winter? So much wasted lambic :(
I live in San Diego and boxes coming to me usually go through LAX - freezing is not generally a big concern. This box happened to go through JFK so I guess it must have frozen there, although a box from BIAB also went through JFK about a week ago and arrived just fine.

Wtf are you people ordering that requires multiple boxes? Weirdos.

Did you order this somewhere or is this a trade?!

everything about it sounds like an order from a non website seller. until you get to the last item
GOT IT ALL AT BINNYS.

3 boxes are Etre, so that accounts for 33 bottles right there. The rest is from cultivating contacts.
