Didn't know where else to post this, but is there anywhere to buy the Tilquin tumbler in the US?

Not sure where they're at now, but I got two tumblers from Steve at Potent Potables about a year or so ago

So in my quest to figure out Bruocsella, I set up a trade for three bottle dates that weren't in my spreadsheet, and one that wasn't in the Cantillon Batch List. Left to right they are
Label 2007, btld 08/26/2010
Label 2008, btld 09/07/2012
Label 2009, btld 10/10/2012

Two curiosities here...the brewery tells us this lambic is bottled at three years, but the 09/07/12 bottle with the 08 label would be over three years old at bottling. I don't expect them to be exact here, but I've also got bottles that seem to be under three years old and as old as four years old depending on brew date. So does the three year old date hold true or is it whenever they feel like bottling?

Second, the 08/26/10 bottle is the same date, label, cap, and color as the bottles I received a couple weeks ago that we're mislabeled Fou'Foune. Out of all the bottles in the batch list, only three were bottled in August. 2003, 2009, 2010. We know that FF is always bottled in August, usually late, and I'm wondering if anyone else out there has ever opened a bottle of 08/26/10? Shaking the bottle reveals at least a fair amount of carbonation as well. I'm beginning to wonder if 08/26/10 Bruocsella even exists. Thoughts?

Maybe Jean's just trolling people. But this is certainly curious and I'd like to know if you find some answers to your questions.

I've seen them in random stores. I bought mine at a not-particularly-fancy store, for instance. I think Whole Foods has them sometimes. It should be somewhat easy to find if you just keep an eye out. Does Shelton import Tilquin? If so you could try asking them if they've gotten any recently.

12 Percent (Brian Ewing) imports Tilquin, unless that's changed recently.

You can get Tilquin pretty easily almost year round, so no Shelton does not import them.

I want to be clear on the whole Foucsella thing: I don't think it's a widespread issue, and I don't think there are a ton of bottles out there, and I'm not even sure they ever made it to retail. It could have been just a particular bottling run that day that got mislabeled or even a part of a run that was set aside. Or someone misplaced the little chalkboard signs they use to denote aging bottles and they took their best guess when it came time to label them. The person that traded them to me was really up-front about how he got them and what was inside of them. It is only that 08/26/10 bottling date with the Grand Place label, as far as I know. What I'd rather know at this point is if anyone else has bottles of Bruocsella labeled as 08/26/10 that are actually Bruocsella. The person who originally entered it into the online batch list still has the bottle and said he'd open it up next time he can get to his cellar, so I'm waiting to see. He got it well before any of the mislabeled bottles showed up.

So, now that you're talking about this, I think I remember actually seeing these at the brewery last time I was there. It was a couple of cases that had "Fou Foune" written on them but were Bruocsella inside. I thought it was odd but didn't really think much of it since I couldn't buy them. I can't really offer anything besides that.

I'd say three given when they hit the market, but I'm just guessing. Since they're all fruited, I'd imagine the earlier the better.

cool - also have they only done one run do you know? It's numbered out of 1000 but there seem to be more around than that (sakura cherry blossom)

3 vintages I think. 2012 was like 200-300 bottles, 2013 1000-1200, 2014 I don't know, but I think more still. Sakura is my favorite, by the way, really cool floral honey thing going on

Great. Tried one of their beers when in Belgium, but can't remember it. Picked this one up on a whim to top up a BiaB order. I'm looking forward to trying it.

Had a Tilquin Quetsche last night, 375 B2 that's been cold since I got it from Etre, and it's not doing too well. One-note sour and the fruit has turned into something weird, I want to say plasticy but it wasn't really phenolic. Anyone else get this?

I just had one two weeks ago and thought it was great. Very little carb, but very enjoyable. I'd love to have been able to get a 750ml with a lot of carb to compare the differences.

In case my "No." requires justification I opened one last week on vacation and I actually felt it had come together and improved since time prior. Fruit and funk at a nice balance and sour enough to lift my ball sack, just the way I like it.

I think somewhere in this thread someone described doing this with a few gueuzes then Resurgam and DDG.

IMO, it will be CRYSTAL clear which is which....so if your intent is a *which is better* thing, that will depend on if person(s) prefer legit lambic to a close, related but different, cousin.

I've tried several American *gueuzes* against the real thing and Resurgam is closest for my taste buds. That said, ain't nothing like the real thing baby.
