SOOO,Dez Bryant and even Michael Irvin are nazis ?

Damn. And next time I hear a woodpecker banging a tree I'm gonna report it to animal control for a hate crime:rolleyes:

Have you ever seen Dez Bryant admit he isn't a nazi???

Was at a restaurant here in Milwaukee that had 1997 vintage Grand Cru Bruocsella for $250. They don’t have a bar, so you can’t just go in there and order a bottle.

At first blush, that price seems ridiculous, but the more I think about it, the less I think it is. Assuming a 2x to 3x markup for on premises, that’s $80 to $125.

Assuming a bottle of GCB is $25 or $30, is $125 plus a 2x on-premises markup that crazy for a 20 year old bottle?

Would bang this summer in Milwaukee. Much rather drop some cash on that than the Milwaukee brewfest.

it certainly isn't flat out crazy.

I have been so lucky to have had that particular bottle more than once in the past 3 years and I can say it's certainly one of the best Bruocsellas I've had.

Also, the labels were more beautiful back then ;)

There is one for sale on the Belgian version of craigslist with a top bid of 250 right now, I'm lucky enough to have a bottle myself

Be prepared to spend $80-$100 per person on food on top of the lambic. I can tell you without question that the food is worth the price. Also, plan ahead - can sometimes be tough to get a table.

That said, I’d go on a date with you to split the bottle.

The 96 bottle SeaWatchman and I had at Cantillon, which was randomly carbed, was pretty spectacular.

That bottle was tops. 1996 label/1999 cork Bruocsella opened in 2012 is what changed my mind about this bottle in general. The older the better IMO. I think even Jean was surprised at how great this bottle was when he opened it.

Good, because my wife certainly wouldn't go on a date with me for that. Planning is easy, we're on Shawano lake for like 6-8 weeks each summer.

97 was way better than B1/83, which was somewhat acetic, a while back at casa de la skrip. 97 was also partially carbed. The best GCB I have had by a mile.

Jean also opened up one of those 1983 bottles for Forgetfu last winter that was fully carbed and looked absolutely amazing. I was jealous.

I'm very excited to see how the magnums do in about 10 years.

Easy peasy:

My tasting group sort of stumbled into a fun Boon tasting last night, including most (all?) of the Vats that have been released:

Consensus was that something was kind of off with all the older ones. 44, 77, and 79 were pretty sweet and perfume-y, with 79 being distractingly so, there wasn't much else going on. The only older one that got much love was 109, but as a group we preferred some of the newer ones. I think 91 was the consensus standout, but none of the new box set were let-downs. Also, get the box set, the booklet that comes with it is great (partly in a "bad translations are funny!" way but also there was some good information).

We also did the new Black Label, a Oude Geuze 2014-2015, and a Mariage Parfait 2013. The general preference was for them in that order, with the Mariage Parfait again being oddly sweet. But the Black Label was fantastic, not very funky but dry and tart, overall a great beer. My recollection is that I was underwhelmed by B2, but the B3 is great.
