My wife and I went to the Lakewood brewery in Garland on Saturday. It's $10 a person to get in. You get a Lakewood glass, four beers and a tour.

The glass is a goblet with the brewery logo etched into it. It's nice.

We drank Hop Trap, Rock Ryder, their lager, Punkel and Temptress. Punkel is a pumpkin beer for people who don't like pumpkin beer. Seriously. It doesn't taste like a slice of pumpkin pie or all pumpkin pie spice. Those flavors are there. They're just more subdued than the in your face pumpkin pie flavors I hear people malign in a lot of pumpkin beers. Temptress is a milk stout. I'm not a fan of milk stouts. Stouts, I love. Just not milk stouts. Temptress is a keg and bottles ahead exception. This beer is great! It's as if silk were a stout you could drink. Sweet, but not sugary.

The tour was not much, honestly. One of the guys stood by the equipment and gave a very brief point and talk. The crowd, which was cool and all, didn't ask many questions. I asked three of the four. They don't have any plans on making a sour.

The food trucks didn't show. Too bad. My wife loves food trucks.

The line to get beers was long. This place is popular. Of course it is. The beer is amazing. The staff did a great job keeping it moving. Plenty of hands at the taps, and if you want to buy t-shirts and stuff, there's a register at the end of the bar just for that.

It was a good trip. The guy playing guitar and harmonica was really good.

Edit- They also had Girl Scout cookies and Juniors BBQ sauce. The June Heat is sweet with a nice twang and the right amount of hotness.

I'll have to see if I can talk my wife into doing this one Saturday. She enjoyed Jester King this past weekend, and she doesn't even like beer!

Lakewood is one of my favorite breweries here in the metroplex. Temptress is my second favorite DFW beer behind Peticolas Velvet Hammer!
