i am wanting to build a lager box. I was wanting to know if a regular fridge (without a controller) go warm enough to use. i dont''t mind buying an additional fridge or something but i wanna make sure it will function correctly

i did a search on lager and prompt got about 464 posts. my guess anyone who has lager in their post showed up.

A regular fridge usually doesn't get much about 40-44 degrees, I believe. So, no, I don't think you could do it without a controller. You want to ferment at about 50 degrees for 10 days or so, raise to 60 for 48 hours for a diacetyl rest and then rack and begin lagering.

The lagering is best (in my opinion) at 34 degrees, so that can be done in a regular fridge. If you could come up with a way to ferment at 50 degrees for only 10 days or so, you could do it!
