Alright, I know this site is mostly populated by the dudes, but I know that I'm not the only female in these parts. Come on! Come out of hiding, chat about how us women who brew are infinitely awesome and things of that nature.

No boys allowed! :D

Aaaand three posts in, this has already become a sausage-fest. :D
You're not helping...

This thread is worthless without pictures!

EDIT:
Sorry, beta. Your cause is truly a good one. We're just too immature to leave it alone.

I'm a lesbian. Well, at least I meet a portion of the criteria for that statement. Wanna pillow fight?
Actually, I find it really funny that you say that because in Japan "yuri" is animated lesbian porn. No joke.

Um, Rich? You may not have noticed, but you are a man too. Don't make me delete this post......................................

I've re-read the OP and nowhere did it say for men to stay out. In fact, it appears that we were baited. Is that legal?

Good point. beta pleated sheet said no boys allowed. It may be legal but is it moral?

Well, I used to notice that I was treated "like a girl" at microbreweries or at homebrew stores. But now I'm just treated like a brewer. I live in a rural area, and there is a new homebrew club starting about 50 miles away. A friend and I joined, and there are now 6 paid members. The President of the club mentioned that he was very happy to have us- Our club is now 30% female!

How did I miss this? Another lady brewer, here! Frankly, I'm puzzled that there aren't more of us. I am always the only woman in either of the two brewing supply places in my town. I am still pretty new at this, having just started back in May...but the guys in the HBS are always very helpful and courteous. I'm still trying to figure out the "Brew and Grow"place...I'm thinking it's mostly mail order for pot- growing supplies because I am always the only person in the store, practically- and neither of the two staff people who started out there have ever brewed before, so it's definitely one of those places I go to only if I know exactly what I need.

Male or female, I think having the knowledge base to actually create beer and/or wine is HOT!
:rockin:

Once, I was lonely and did a "Google" search for women brewers...I came up with this! I figured it would come in handy on here one day and I was right.

I like the sausage-fest, I went last year and had knockwurst and bratwurst and sweet itallian sausage, they also had all kinds of hot dogs and aged salamis as well as many other aged meats. That was some of the best meat I have had in a while.

People in this country speak so poorly of attending a sausage-fest, I think you all need to experience a traditional Eastern-European sausage-fest so you can get a taste and a feel for the work and preparation that goes into making different kinds of delicious sausage.

Let's see ... with an a name like beta pleated sheet, I'd guess that makes you both a female brewer and a science nerd? Awesome!

Yooper...without knowledge of your previous posts ;) , its actually hard to tell that you are a woman. Your avatar is a picture of a man and the gender field in your profile is blank. Maybe you should go back to YooperChick... :)

The few, the proud, the lady brewers!

I'm apparently one of two women my LHBS has ever sold a beer brewing kit to.

I like being an anomaly. ;)
My LHBS is own by this awesome old married couple, so I'm never the only woman there. Man, they are some of my favorite people. I hope that when I'm older people will think of me like that. The woman is especially awesome. I have yet to meet someone who knows as much about fruit wines as she does.

I often find myself as the only, or one of few, women in the various activities I like to do, be it brewing, drinking, shooting guns, watching sports. When I was younger, boy's toys were always way more fun. Riding bikes with the neighborhood boys always sounded better than playing house with the girls. I wanted to play soccer in high school and they only had a boys team, so there I was, playing varsity boy's soccer as a freshman. Maybe growing up with brothers attributed to that? Maybe I just didn't let myself become brainwashed into thinking I had to limit myself to "girl stuff" all the time. Which is not to say that I don't enjoy girl stuff too. I do enjoy a variety of typical female activities as well. I'm glad that I live in a world where I can do whatever I want. It's refreshing to find there are many like-minded women out there!!!

In fact, it is my firm opinion that women ought to have their own forum category here on Home Brew Talk!!!

Hi, folks. Another brewer of the female persuasion here! You know, I bet there are more of us than one would think - we probably just don't always take the time to hang out with the old boys crowd that seem to hover around the LHBS that I'm used to. I tend to enjoy my and my friends' creations at fairly laid-back and spontaneous get-togethers at someone's house, not drag a six-pack down to the store... But that's probably just me, and not at all related to my gender.

Anyway, the more the merrier, although I must admit, my brewbuddy roommate and I take advantage of the fact that when he goes to the LHBS, he has to pay for everything, and when I go, little things like bottle caps and grain bags are just thrown in for free! So guess who has become just about the only one who actually shops for supplies...

We should get T-shirts printed up, especially if we get confirmation of the "Brewster" thing...

She changed it because creepy dudes on the internet were sending her filthy PM's all the time. BTW, sorry about that, I don't know what came over me..... ;)

My LHBS is owned by a woman, and she has numerous awards for her brews. Of course, the only other women I see there are usually tagging along with their boyfriends, looking bored. Thank goodness for my brew girl - she loves homebrewing!

In 1850, a newspaperman named William Cobbett published a paper called "Cottage Economy" declaring that brewing is one of the only things that can make a woman useful as a person, and a benefit to society. A woman who doesn't brew, he said, is not quite human. Making tea, on the other hand, wastes time and turns women into gossips, instead of the productive citizens they are as brewsters.

This may be perverse, but I sort of like being the minority around here. It makes me feel special.
