Hey,
I have been brewing for a couple months now and most if not all of my brews have had good starts and enjoyable bodies but have lacked back ends. I was wondering what I have to do to maybe fix this problem. I currently brew parcial mash recipes workin my way up to a all grain system soon. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanx a mill! Cheers!

What do you mean by 'back end'? Do you mean hops flavor, maltiness, mouthfeel...etc. Some recipe info would be helpful. Late hops additions will improve hops flavor. Additions of Crystal, Caramel, or any of the darker malts will add body, maltiness, and mouthfeel. Perhaps some steeping additions. Without knowing what you mean or your recipes it will be hard to give you good advice.

You've been brewing for a couple months and you expect a good finish to your beer? Let it have time to mature. Some of my best beers really only came to maturity after 3 months. They get better after that too.

+1 to both of these comments. I would also add mash temperatures (higher temps=more residuals=fuller body) But really, without knowing what you're doing it's hard to give advice.

Thanx for all the suggestions. Yeah I have been brewing for about 7 months now and have done over a dozen brews and they all seem to have great starts, good mouth feel and taste then just seem to disappear with little or no back end to them ( in the last brew competition i was in the winner had a great saison but had absolutely no ending to the beer it just disappeared in your mouth. My issue is not as bad as that but is still lacking a back end "finish" to the profile.) I would list the recipe but it's not just one it's almost all and I have let a lot of them sit for extended periods of time so time will only tell in that area. I am just looking for a starting point as to where I should begin looking for the flaws on my brew techniques. I have also run into the problem in not only kit brews but also my recipe base brews I have put together. Any other suggestions would greatly b appreciated.
