I believe those cans are coming out the following weekend, December 16th. Let me know if you want me to grab some for you!
Whoops, you're right. Previous plan was to be up north that weekend (Dec 16th) for a trip to Disneyland but audibled the plans to be further north this weekend instead. Slight chance Ari and I may cruise up to Beachwood anyway that weekend just to party. No need to grab cans, got plenty of beer here already, but I'll absolutely holler if it looks like we'll be around!

How was Monkish's Monocle? I'm headed up to Ventura this weekend and might stop by Monkish on my way home Sunday, thinking about grabbing the new guava version. Also, any comments on how awful Rams AND Chargers came happening simultaneously makes traffic? Would love to do HPB and Monkish but pretty concerned that's a horribly foolish plan.
What GregorySingh said. Just had "regular" Monocle this past weekend and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Also not the biggest fan of guava in beer but the base was really good and I like supporting Monkish. I think traffic on 405 going south on Sundays just depends on what time you go but I don't think the Rams game would affect 405 that much since it's closer to 110. The Chargers venue is much smaller so I also don't think it will be a huge deal plus the flow from the stadium depends on how fast cars can get on the freeway from the streets. Things will change once they finish the much larger new stadium in a few years.

Let me know if you guys head up to Beachwood to hang out. Always enjoy a good excuse to go there.

Well I definitely missed the bottle sale but c'est la vie, thinking I'll still swing by on Sunday regardless. And will absolutely holler at you and GregorySingh regarding Beachwood if we wind up there next week!

Doing a hit and run trip this weekend for the festival put on by the other site. Lurked this thread pretty hard and have some good thoughts on what to do when we get in tomorrow.

Could use some suggestions for Saturday since we're trapped downtown. We are staying on 7th Street between Olive and Grand. Looking for somewhere good for breakfast Saturday morning after a stop at Verve (assuming thats the best coffee spot within walking distance). Also, somewhere we can grab food between the sessions (Grand Central Market?). Lastly, somewhere that delivers or is open late after the festival for food.

If any of you make it to the festival, drop by and say hi. I'll be behind the WeldWerks table.

Grand Central Market. You can walk there and there are tons of options. Check out Angel's Flight across the street.

Don't sleep on the Whole Foods nearby where you are staying. They have a solid draft list and you can either grab food from the store or order from their menu.

Sonoratown, Dune, Rice Bar are very good, cheap downtown options. I enjoyed my breakfast at Poppy and rose a few weeks back. Always just go to Nick's in Chinatown for classic diner food. Although it can be a scene on weekends.

Staying on 7th between Olive and Grand, Sugarfish is right up in you, a great spot for some delicious fresh sushi (they specialize in handrolls, but don't front-- these are some fucken fantastic handrolls). You're also like a block away from B.S. Taqueria, and also the downtown LA location of Karl Strauss brewpub, which has way better food than they need to (and very good beer too).

Grand Central Market is awesome for quality and variety, but it's not exactly close to the Extreme Beer Fest (about a mile away). If you want to make the trek, go for it. But my recommendation would be to go to Main and 4th (about 3/4-mile from EBF) for the epicenter of the budding Josef Centeno restaurant empire-- Baco Mercat (awesome Spanish/Mediterranean restaurant), P.Y.T. (veggies), Ledlow, Bar Ama, and (if you fancy) Orsa & Winston, all located within a 1-block radius in a nice area of downtown. KazuNori, a great, quick handroll sushi bar by the guys from Sugarfish, is also right on the same block. Good stuff.

If you're going to Grand Central Market, I would make sure you swing by Pershing Square on the way there/back for one of the best bits of scenery and ambiance in all of LA.

KazuNori, Baco Mercat, and many/most/all of the Centeno spots are open late, like 11 or 12 on Fridays and Saturdays.

PRO TIP: If you're walking, be advised that walking northbound from California Market Center along Los Angeles St. to get to Grand Central Market (or the Centeno empire), you'll be walking right along the border of Skid Row, infamously one of the centers of the highest concentration of homeless people in the United States. If you're not comfortable with that (like if you've never lived in a big city), take an Uber, or grab a couple of bikes from one of the Metro Bike Share stations, or just veer a block or two west before you head north.

Thanks for taking the time to give all those recommendations and tips!

Thanks for the help so far.

****** delayed 2 hours out of DIA.

Ooo, for another wuntrikpony approved outing, you could go to La Abeja for breakfast then Civil Coffee after (they don't roast their own beans but the Coava beans from Portland OR they serve are fantastic). It would require an Uber / riding Goldline light rail up to Highland Park, but is probably worth it, and you give you a chance to see something outside of downtown.

Not sure if any of the rest of you were there last night, but Homage’s anniversary shindig was a blast. Great beer, and even greater people running that place. Was going to introduce myself to cquiroga but didn’t want to interrupt him from slinging some seriously delicious beer floats!
Say hello next time. I knew a few people there, and got to know a few others last night during the festivities. But it's always fun meeting new, cool people in the beer world. Thanks for the kind words about the beer floats. I love doing silly **** like that. And yeah, the party was a blast (and Matt, Lauren, Jeremiah and Co. are really awesome people, yes). Hope you got to try the 3-year blend of Chat Flou. Cheers!

Had a nice 48 hours in LA. Lines at the WeldWerks table were incredible. We poured beer non stop for both sessions. Line was well over 100 people at some times. We appreciated all that support!

Went to B.S. Taqueria on Friday night and really enjoyed it. Didn't get to do much other than that and the festival.

You still hitting up the House of Mouse? We're planning on going this weekend too.

Haven't been to HPB in too long, thanks to my beer money being diverted to holiday gifts. Need me some pilsner crowlers ASAP. I know it's not a pils, but might buy cans of the HPB/Modern Times collab just to tide me over.
