Looking for recs for food + good taplist in the woodland hills area tonight. Bonus if a brewery, but not at all necessary. Just good local options on tap.

Also any decent bottles shops close to Amoeba Music?

Local Peasant in Woodland Hills usually has a solid taplist.

Is there available parking at all these places?
Amoeba has one extremely small lot that's free, but I manage to get a spot there half the time. K&L has free parking behind the building, just make sure to validate a ticket inside. The attendee in the lot will give you a ticket. Easy walk between the two places.

Get a Philz coffee at the CNN building, smoke a j in the parking lot, and go get lost digging for vinyl gems. At least that's how I do amoeba.

Sitting at local peasant now, sipping on some awesome local stuff. Somehow found myself staring down a bottle of 2015 BA Coffee Monsters Park. It's overpriced as **** and I just overspent at amoeba. Before I start contemplating the point on the ear beating spectrum I can handle from wife, do I need to worry about infection (edit: or maybe just flatness) with this thing? I seem to recall issues but no recollection of specs.

HPB hoppy pils colab was enough to get me to buy my first Offshoot beer.

damn, picked my cans up last night and didn't double check what they handed me like a rookie. poured this today and immediately knew I didn't have a pilsner on my hands. its a good beer, but sad feelings that i missed out on pils life.

Maybe someone else can chime in, I haven't had any Monsters Park in a long time.

I can't recall a coffee iteration being infected.
  • Very first ones had carb issues
  • The 7 year rye was infected
  • One other single barrel was infected
  • I think the 2016 bottles were mostly ****** (coconut in particular) but my coffee MP's were all perfect (and delicious btw)

How is the BA GjG and Science sucks tasting?

BA GJG is a solid offering this time around and it's definitely a lot better than b2. Science Sucks has a very strong & clean apricot flavor, which is nice and the acidity seems balanced. I was in a bit of a rush so I didn't get to have full pours of either but definitely worth trying.

Science Sucks is a bit too sour for my preference but still good. Bob said they brewed it using cultures from gueuze dregs (so not Cold Box base beer).

Really liked Feed the Cats. Not quite the pineapple funk that some of the Casey "____ loves Brett" beers are but definitely in that vein.

Well **** HPB, you picked a terrible time to release my favorite beer from you. Why did I decide to go sober this month?

A friend is doing a Costco run for a big group camping trip this weekend and asked what beer he should pickup while there. Having never been to a Costco, I am not sure what they stock. What tasty shelf beers are reliably available at Costco in cans?

Stone ****, Ballast Point ****, Green Flash ****. If you're lucky, you can get Modern Times and Pizza Port.

Pizza Port and Karl Strauss are the real winners. Last I checked, they may still have the Karl Strauss Oktoberfest, which is money - and if they're really awesome, they'll have some Mosaic Session packs.
